You sure do have a way of expressing yourself. Enjoyed the read BTW. This reminds me of a couple in a congregation I was in years ago. We were at a "get together" and they were both laughing and telling the story of when she was trying to get him to become a Jehovah's Witness. They would get into a conversation and then she would go to the grocery store. Sure enough a witness soon was at the door allegedly going door to door. One time, and this is the one that reeled him in...he had told her that one way to prove this was Jehovah's organization was if a JW was to knock on their door. She had to... you guessed it, go to the grocery store. A JW came to the door, a Bible study was started, and the rest is history.

My mom tried getting in the door with her "WBTS crap" by bringing a dub lady over we both knew.They were just in the neighborhood(yeah right!)and thought they would drop by with the latest WT&AWK.I told them both,never to bring that crap around my house.Emberassed the shit out of both of them....LOL!!...OUTLAW

Did you notice that both JW's and evangelicals tend to attribute nearly everything to either the Holy Spirit or to Satan? I hope your experience will help you understand where she is coming from. Just as you are convinced that her beliefs will condemn her to hell, she is also utterly convinced that your beliefs will kill you. To fully prepare your mental defences against the Witnesses, I think you are going to have to take a good look at your preconceptions as well.

This was my experience as well when I attempted to study with a nice lady Witness. It stopped being fun very fast because the poor woman was so sincere. I am more patient now. I make a comment here and there, and wait for the JW to respond. Why torment them if they are not ready to hear it?

Now, this weird response is unique to the JW's. They have to work so hard shunning so many kinds of people, it is hard to keep the appearance that they love the people that are slated for death. (Recently non-JW spouses were compared to rotting corpses). Though evangelical Christians can be equally annoying in their preachy-conversion style, at least they don't have to fake the love.

Your future sister-in-law is probably hoping against hope that you can be like her so she can like you. You are right. If you continue to resist, she will turn on you. If you want to drag out the relationship to have more chances to talk to her, I suggest you use sentences like, "I don't know, I am so confused...."

If Jehovah uses these "miracles" (or as JW's say "directed by God") then why do other JW's die from being at the wrong place/wrong time kinda accidents?

Here in Northern Jersey, 10+ Witnesses were mowed down by a car when leaving Stanley Theatre Assembly? This happened by a Witnesses husband

picking up his wife, but was still an accident! Why did not God save HIS people by telling them to be away from the sidewalk at that time?

if there really is a devil, this freaky coincedence would be his work...I can imagine why you'd be a bit weirded out...that story will be blown out of context and out of proportion and will be used as an experience for this years District Convention, except it might be embelished to add that you fell in love with the "truth" and got baptised the next day;) frog
