Sorry to be getting off the topic of this thread, but if you didn't have a badge they would probably ask to see your blood card which I dont have either of and I'm sure there would be somebody who would recognize me as even though I wouldn't want them to see me let alone endorse my presence.

Back when I was active I never really seen any protesters outside the convention but I guess I just never looked.

thanks everyone! all i can do is continue showing her love. if she comes around, she comes around. when/if she does, i'll be there waiting for her. she deserves so much more than some cult can offer.

    You should be cloned.

    gee, thanks katie...

i had no idea that the badge thingy/issue was such a hot one. perhaps it is just calgary? i would be surprised if it was. but the convention overseer for the last 10 years, is a millionaire and really "tight" with the GB (emails a couples times per week with bethel, etc. i know, i used to be in his freaking BS), probably because he makes huge donations. so perhaps he is just really paranoid? but even a couple of years ago at the international convention in montreal that i attended, they were checking to see if people had badges on. that said, people can still go if they are just "interested". they just have someone with a walkie-talkie "helping" them the whole time. jeepers.

there has to be other places where they are anal about badges? after-all, you have to be a member in good standing to get one.

I never wore my badge, and it never was an issue. I can count on my hands the time I wore badges to a convention.

Ah, two of my favorite diversions. But, isn't it a little early in the day for scotch?

By the way, down east here in Saskatchewan, I've never been checked for a badge. And, who is the millionaire convention overseer? I lived in Calgary for a while (Woodlands cong).

I was in the Riverside Cong. I think they are more militant about badge checking in Calgary because of the whole Betheny Hughes incident. There was a bomb scare evacuation at a convention here three years ago.

    Hey Josh,

As Katiekitten said, what a sweet, loving, and patient partner this woman has in you. Hopefully your continued kindness despite opposing views will be an eye-opener for her in that there really are kindhearted non-believers. I know what it is like to have an opposing view with your partner…rather challenging to say the least. As if all of the normal obstacles and ups and downs in a relationship are not enough, the religion thing can truly make or break it.

Christ knows that if wars can be fought over religious differences, a marriage can be over in two winks and a blink. I sincerely hope you two get through it successfully with your love and respect for one another intact. To get the most out of a marriage you need to be learning from each other and constantly growing together. Otherwise, you will start to wonder…what is the point?

Tetra, it is so good to hear your peace.

Although I am compelled to post this in case others want to avoid the "Watchers" (as they are officially called).

Gee, they really went all out with that badge again this year. That must be just about impossible to counterfeit, what with all the security features and all.

Oops, I said "Gee", which everyone knows is short for "Jesus F'ng Christ". I must remember to avoid that gosh-darn word in future. Oh-oh, I did it again.
