A question for Evil Force

I have read in several of your posts that you are a doctor, what is your line of practice? If you would share that with us here that would be cool. Also how often has the blood transfusion issue come up in your practice. How have you dealt with your JW patients in reference to the blood issue? Have you ever had to get a court oder for one of your patients?

These are just some questions I have and would like a doctors perspective on, especially an XJW.

    Thanks,

    Dave

I am a doctor of neurology with a clinical interest in: Multiple Sclerosis, neuropathy, movement disorders, dementia, and complex neurological patients The blood transfusion issue really hasn't been very frequent for me. When I started on this board 3 months ago I hadn't realized that JW's had even switched their stance. As far as I'm aware I don't have any regular JW's as patients...but since I don't make a habit of asking I'm sure I do. The last I really dealt with it much was during my ER stint a few years ago. General surgeons and ER docs face the blood issue daily and are on the "front lines" so to speak. I have never had a problem ordering blood for a patient. I always found the Dub's stance on blood to be silly. Now that it has changed even more I find their stance ludicrous! I now know why my parents never bothered to tell me it changed.....but according to them it hasn't changed....it's "new light".

    UGH!

How is that different from a neuro surgeon? Or is that distinction unnessesary?

So, what are your insights or experiences with patients with fibromyalgia? [I have to go to SPA class now, so I'll get back here tomorrow.]

One of these days, see if you can get your hands on the WTS's blood video that is targeted toward medical professionals. What a yawn fest. That is between the parts when they are so condescending and arrogant that it's hysterical. It would make for an interesting in-service with your colleagues. My nursing colleagues were rather put off by the whole thing.

    Cheers, Scully

So, if my brain was wired a bit wrong, w a couple of switches set off, when they should be on, could you fix that? Or is that a job for a neuroelectrician?

Hehe. There is supposed to be a god module inside there, somewhere. If evil poke that, he would create an instant prophet.

    Scully-

I had to sit thru the same video. I ended up doing a "play by play". By the time we were done, none of the nurses/interns wanted to deal with patients that were JWs. I can't tell you how many times I ended up having to get involved. Especially in the ER/ICU, were I worked anyway. A couple of the docs would get so fed up, they'd walk away, leaving me to deal with it. I got pretty good at nicely putting them in their place. I've had elders escorted from the hospital. I've had security posted on the floor. I love to restrict vistors (meaning no elders). I wasn't the only one picking up literature left and trashing it. The whole staff would bring magazines to the break room for me to destroy. It got to be pretty funny.

Another hospital I worked at had a JW public relations/liason person. She's acused me of "undoing her hard work." The staff would call me before they called her. Didn't like her "holier than thou" attitude". Knew I must be doing something right!!

No matter what they say, medical staff is not that crazy about having to deal with any JW. They can usually see thru them.

You may all email me to my personal account at: [email protected] if you would prefer not to post your medical issues for all to see :) I don't mind the questions assuming you can be patient for any answers....it may take me 2 or 3 days to get back up with you.

**So, if my brain was wired a bit wrong, w a couple of switches set off, when they should be on, could you fix that? Or is that a job for a neuroelectrician?**
Nah, sometimes a neuroplumber though if I can't help ya out.

**Don't trust him, Satanus. I found this still of him at work...**
Jeannie...sssshhhh don't tell everyone what really goes on.

Scully....I can hardly contain myself with the anticipation of watching said video. I will say this however. Alot of active Dubs tend to be rather "know it all". They would want to debate me on the finer points of medical care and "alternative" answers. They usually came off as real butt munches....like they know everything and I'm a stupid ass. Ahn, whatever.

Scully have you had quite a few JW's to deal with? What's been your experience with them?
