They can't mess around with the Moslems because there are among them fanatical people of medieval ruthlessness and brutality, and that's also why they never dared do any preaching in moslem countries as they did in say the ex communist states where things were also quite tough, for all their bravado and talk as God's own org that preaches the gospel to ALL nations they desisted. It is not good for business at the end of the day if all WTS assets globally became targets for the al quaida.

One or two Moslem countries notably, Saudi Arabia forbid preaching by ANY Christian religion. I knew a JW whose lived there we about 6 months, a few years ago, due to her husband working out there. Christians had to live in a designated areas. No Christians was allowed to talk to a Moslem about their beliefs. In fact they had to be careful about speaking to each other in a case a Moslem overheard. Many of them had Arab staff to clean and cook. The law was that you could not leave a Bible or Christian literature on view where a Moslem may see it.

I knew a bro who spent yrs in pakistan as a missionary. They targeted christians, as they are told to do also in other islamic countries, leaving alone the muslims. Looking at catholic history of evangelism, they had a loy more balls than the wt does.

Actually there are plenty of references.

Ezekiel3 - you're a gem. Thanks for the list of references. I had a hunch that the bulk of them would be in earlier than more recent publications. Although I do not have Watchtower publications on hand anymore, I doubt that any of the references would be very critical - and probably are very carefully worded to avoid "offence". The Watchtower's always more unrestrained when it comes to Christendom's "biggies" (safer, easier targets).

My view on the JWs spreading their religion: Most, if not all of them, don't have the foggiest idea about what's in the Koran, and couldn't care less. They've got almost zero presence in Islamic countries and that ain't going to change (in common with other Western proslytizers).

Meanwhile Moslems in Western countries are increasing in leaps and bounds. The silence from the watchtower is deafening.

Aniron, your comments about your friend whose husband worked in Saudi Arabia are dead right on. Any evidence of Christian paraphernalia such as Bibles or traditional symbols such as the cross were enough to get anyone stupid enough to flash the ownership of such items in serious trouble. Two Philipino guys who tried to organize an xmas prayer meeting for the catholics were found out, taken to the men's prison and scheduled for exucution. They were spared in an eleventh hour reprieve barely put in place by the Phillipino government. Others caught doing similar things were not so lucky. Interestingly I was able to obtain an NIV bible WHILE I was working there through a highly organized Christian group in a highly convoluted smuggling operation involving spy-level hijinks that the CIA would marvel at. The people doing this were taking horrible chances. There was NO representation from the Borg. They wouldn't be bothered with the Bible anyway, they would want to smuggle in their mindless trash.

Here's a story about a comedian who went from the JWs to Islam:

It seems that outside of Japan, the Witnesses have been unable to penetrate deeply into countries dominated by Eastern religion.

It is easier to work on the members of Christendom who already have a Bible. The JW's can use their familiarity with some of the basic teachings of the Bible to steer people toward their own "Bible-based" hope and propaganda.

It's harder to convert people whose concept of God and Jesus are so foreign to your own.

The LEGAL age for a girl to be married in Iran for instance is NINE. Yes, you read correctly. Nine year old girls in Iran are given in marriage to men of any age all the time. Pediphilia is a state sanctioned pastime in many Islamic countries, but it's ok because the little girls are "married". The Borg protects child molesters too. I may be stretching out too far here, but ever since I worked in an Islamic country and saw whereof I speak, I have had suspicions that the bizzare undercurrents presently coming to light about the witness religion are not of Christian origin at all, but along with Islam come from the same prehistoric mumbo-jumbo as the masons and the star worshippers of ancient Mesopotamia. The robotic mindset, the hypnotised lock-step mentality, the same death to the infidel hatred and freaky addiction to mind numbing rehash is just too similar for words. Maybe that's another reason the Borg doesn't diss Islam

So too in Judaism in olden times; not to mention aspects of Christianity in latter days too.

Marriages historically were for political advantages.

Being "engaged' and even contracted into a kind of "reserved limbo" did not necessarily mean anything sexual would happen.

Religions have always been male-dominated and very lenient toward the desires of men both physically and politically.

The current Watchtower sex doctrines reflect the ages of the men on sitting around the table!

The clear exception is the African block of nation states in which JWs have mushroomed - esp. Nigeria, Zambia, etc.
