i need advice for throwing a party

My parents are allowing me to throw a party so all my worldly friends can come and hang out.

there will be drinks, swimming poool, lounging and food, poker and black jack too!

is calling a week in advance enough time?

should I have it on a sunday, list the time early at like 2pm?

i have some friends that i talk to on myspace.com that went to my school, so i posted it on the bulletin there. when they reply to my announcement, what stuff should i tell them?

Make sure you have enough snacks. Double if you're having alcohol, so people aren't drinking on empty stomachs. If people will still be there at dinner time, make sure there's something to eat then too. Food/drinks should have a variety so people with dietary restrictions and different preferences can find something they like/can have. For example, don't serve only red meat or only caffeinated soda.

Tell them anything they'd need to know such as directions, where to park, if they should bring a bathing suit and towel. Are you gambling with real $? If so maybe they'd want a heads up to bring some cash. Have some extra towels, insect spray, and sunblock on hand in case someone forgets. If there will be smoking, have ashtrays and lighters. Decide ahead of time what you'll say if they offer to bring something. (So do you want me to bring something? )

When people arrive, greet them, offer them a drink, show them around and make a point to show them where the bathroom is. When they leave, make a point to thank them for coming and walk them to their cars, that is if you can still walk by then.

That's pretty much it.

Pool parties are always a blast!! And I believe a week should be fine to let people know, unless you are inviting someone that doesn`t live close by you. Sometimes Sundays do work out better for some, because you know probably alot of people work on Saturday.

I'm sure you know a couple of big folks... You need to find 2 big guys and tell them that you want them to keep a heads up for trouble at the party. Since you posted it out in public, I'm sure some random people will show up. You don't want them to trash your house or steal from you. Slip each guy a 20, and then go make some chex mix.

That sounds like super fun! Just need to make sure you invite a cool mix of people, and the rest will happen naturally. Remeber the best parties are the one's that aren't to anally organised, just let people do what they want to do. Your parents are sooo way cooler than mine ever were at your age for letting you throw a houseparty with non-dub friends:) Have fun! frog
