In order to prove that certain works published years ago are still within the copyright, they would have to admit and confirm who wrote those works.

I doubt it. For legal purposes, I think they could almost certainly claim that the author of the works was the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.

It is so painfully obvious that the WTS wants its way, its cake and everyone elses cake too.

They want all their (lifesaving) litter-ature everywhere (Dr's offices, laundromats, hospital waiting rooms, inside not-at-home's doors, etc, but heaven forbid that the same litter-ature be accessed online by anyone!!!!!!!

I hope that a judge will be able to cut through the WTS' crap and laugh in their face at how absolutely foolish they are. Hateful, mean, and extremely petty little men who want to think of themselves (and their litter-ature) as somewhat important in the eyes of the world.

Annie......who wants to say, GO QUOTES!

Sure, they already claimed Jesus was the Editor in court!

Your comment above is why I think it would be considered a work for hire.

Neonmadman is correct, the copyright is held by WTB&TS; in this case they don't have to reveal individual or team of authors, but only the original publication date is important.

I think WTS silence on this is more practical: if they acount for the 2 or 3 books on the CD which (I now think may be) still protected, then they are also giving the gren light to me releasing the other 14 - 15 books on the CD, which would therefore be unprotected. And you know they don't want that!

Heck, they could have just listed the (supposedely) protected works in their original C&D; instead they resorted to the amorphous "many" -- their lawyers speak with the same shocking imprecision as the Watchtower and Awake!. Maybe they got their college/law degree from four years of reading the Watchtower??? ;)

rebel8, you underestimate the editor of The Watchtower -

Sure, they already claimed Jesus was the Editor in court!

    Cross-examination of Frederick W. Franz in the case of Olin Moyle v. WTB&TS, 1943, Sections #2596-2597, p. 866.

    Q. At any rate, Jehovah God is now the editor of the paper [The Watchtower], is that right?
    A. He is today the editor of the paper.

    Q. How long has He been editor of the paper?
    A. Since its inception he has been guiding it.

Cross-examination of Nathan Homer Knorr in the case of Olin Moyle v. WTB&TS, 1943, Section #4421, p. 1474.

    Q. In fact, it [The Watchtower] is set forth directly as God's Word, isn't it?
    A. Yes, as His word.

    Q. Without any qualification whatsoever?
    A. That is right.

Interesting. Considering how much WTS insist on it that dubs MUST NOT visit APOSTATE website you'd think they themselves would lead the way, i.e. wouldn't even know that quotes exist, hmmmm.

The really hilarious thing about all this is how the Borg is in essence attacking it's own literature! The revelation that these morons have printed eye-bulging, jaw-dropping loads of rubbish over many decades is excrutiatingly obvious. When you use that quotes site and scroll down it's like hitting the motherload of " Borg-speak" dumpster-diving. And for past leaders to be on court record for saying that Jehovah God is the AUTHOR of all this cretinous drivel !!!! Well, be still my heart...do Borg minions never proof read this crap? The pissy arrogance of it all just leaves me speechless. I hope the courts make that cartoon organization and it's legal department into a laughing stock (which we escapees already know it is!).
