Seems that pdf files have corrupted my original topic and now it's locked out, sorry.

If anyone can get the pdf file posted here, that would be great.

One Year Later: Effects of Moscow Ban on Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia
In June 2004 the Moscow City Court ruled to uphold a lower court decision to ban the activity of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Moscow and to liquidate their legal entity. This is in stark contrast to the legal status of the Witnesses in the rest of Russia, where they are registered in 398 communities in 72 regions. Even before this ruling entered into legal force, Jehovah’s Witnesses experienced adverse consequences both in Moscow and in other parts of Russia.

Unlike how I used to think before now I say they deserve all the persecution they get because, they also persecute many people in their own way.

Apart from the ethical problem of persecuting any religious minority - we are not talking about Al-Qaeda of Hamas - persecution of JWs will only confirm WTS doctrines. History has demonstrated that JWs persecution will lead to a more standfast position and increase of its membership.

The WTS are like cockroaches... you just don't seem to win.

We need some cult "RAID"...or "BLACK FLAG"

    Kills roaches dead!

bingo, on the money, many former jw hate jw so bad they missed the whole point, the problem is not with some 7yr old jw kid who is being kicked in the teeth or some uneducated 75 yr old woman being pushed down on the ground, while JR Brown and the rest of the players at bethel are sitting around some rich jw house in Palm Springs after they gave a boring A$$ talk at the district convention last week

sad to say the men who cause the pain and hurt in millions of folks lives go UN-touched by such persecution- like all the young men who are still sitting in Jail due to alternative service - even though they changed the rules, yet these young 17,18,19 yr old guys are sitting in jail due to getting a 3-10yrs sentence-

so please don;t lose site that most of those jw are literally uneducated - i wonder how many jw in russia can read at at 11th grade level, yet many of them will suffer greatly - they have been duped and the boys in brooklyn kick back and enjoy the good life

The only good thing about Russia is that Crisis of Conscience is available online (in Russian) for them to read. And so is In Search of Christian Freedom. That maybe helping more of the JW's there to wake up.

I don't like seeing anyone persecuted for their religious beliefs. It's not right when witnesses shun former members and it's right when witnesses are abused due to their beliefs.

Persecution will make them stronger and they will increase. Someone needs to let Russia in on the news. Prosperity is what will make the witnesses decline. When things are smooth and easy the witnesses get complacent very quickly. I'm sure the Russian friends are expecting Armageddon any second.

A message board was started by a non-jw on this topic, FYI.

I believe a myth exists among Witnesses that persecution somehow benefits the organization - with growth.

Persecution usually slows down growth - as shown by increased growth after the persecution stops, as in the past in Spain,

and Russia itself. Sometimes persecution halts growth entirely and causes some publishers to drift away.

As for Russia, while the persecution is regretable, it nevertheless puts emphasis on how Witnesses break up families

and avoid any personal view of Jesus ( "Jehovists").
