About ten years ago I went to Centre Parcs in the UK and was surprised to find that loads of JWs were taking a christmas avoidance holiday. Does this mass holidaying still take place ? - seems kinda fun.

I don't recall any JW taking vacations that coincided w/Christmas but when I lived in South America this was common. Even the meetings were suspended during Christmas and New Year's. During Holy Week people also took off to the beaches.

That baby in your avatar is absolutely adorable!

A few years ago I heared a conversation about Jehovahs Witnesses going to Centre Parks at Christmas.

If I remember correctly they were advised not to go anymore because if there happened to be a worldly person there who caused trouble, it is likely that the JWs would get blamed and get a bad reputation because there were so many of them there at the time.

I know it took place here and I'd bet that it is still done since I exited a few years ago.

Every Christmas day, a lot of dubs of all ages from all over Western Pennsylvania go to the Seven Springs Ski Resort. It always reminded me of the crowd of single bros in sis's at Gate A in the convention stadiums and arenas. A=available

Around the holidays we used to go to Reno and stay for a few days at the MGM Grand. Mom and Dad had a good time playing the slots.

I know around here they would have get togethers and parties like on Christmas and Halloween. I remember they even rent out a place for Halloween night to avoid the trick or treaters. Ahhh a restaurant full of JWs, what a social bash.. It's like a really bad after school special or something, kill me now.

Here quite a few (read: in the right "cliques, as the entire congregation is not invited) would meet at the Holiday Inn in Stevens Point for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. They really whoop it up.

If anyone mentions anything negative about it, they trot out the old "well, everyone has the day off, so we can all get together" routine.

There was one awkward time when an elderly sister, who had strenuously opposing husband and children, had happened to have their family Christmas in the same Holiday Inn! Still, it was quite embarassing for her to have to open presents with everyone from her congregation nearby.

Ahh, the the old holiday celebration-counter-celebration strategy. Brings back horrible memories of infinetely boring JW conversations, living rooms full of clean shaven men, polo shirts, New World Translations, Monopoly, Bible charactor charades, discussions about cleaning up dead bodies... AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!

I used to go to Centre Parcs with loads of witnesses. There was advice saying witnesses should stop going. I got absolutley trolleyed quite a few times. The nightclub would finish at 12, and then we would all go back to a 'brothers' chalet. Things got a lot worse after i left if i remember rightly....
