he is one of the strongest believers in evolution

even funnier are the WT quotes of richard dawkins. it's pretty hard to take him out of context yet they found a way.

Ever notice how they will paraphrase 3 scriptures in a sentence to prove a point?
Its like cutting the letters out of a magazine and pasting them together to form words...

when me and my brothers were little kids, during the meetings we would open the bible so it would look like we were paying attention and then point to words or parts of words or letters to make sentences. it was mostly stuff like, "YOU R A BUTT." yeah, i don't know why this reminded me of that, but i'm glad it did

i am a saganite, no doubt. i love what and how he wrote about so many things.
a couple of things i have noticed about him:
he was way more tactful than richard dawkins. he was super fair in debates he had with people. his last wife says that he always really listened to his opponent in a way that really disarmed them. like he was really trying to understand where they were coming from and the point they were making. i also think that this fairness on his part allowed him to be mis quoted on several occasions. but he was never a creationist! he was an evolutionist. he just was not dogmatic. he had a huge sense of wonder. he also smoked a lot of dope, and i think, IMHO, it started to get to him before he died. i found this web page interesting:
sorry doogie,
i re read your post and realized that your were mourning carl sagan, not that you thought he went borneo. duh!
yes, it's sad he is gone. some day his molecules will again be part of the billions and billions of galaxies that enraptured him so.
cheers,
TS
"Jehovah has set the sun's orbit so that it is close enough to keep up warm and happy year round."
Well.......maybe they are right, I mean, I feel warm and happy.
"Jehovah has set the sun's orbit so that it is close enough to keep up warm and happy year round."
Uh Huh. Tell that to the dudes in Franz Joseph Land. BTW, are there any congregations of JW's there?
No wonder I learned to just send my brain on vacation
Luna 2, Lol! that's what I used to do! Problem is, I dont think it ever came back. I used to have a system down. I would let myself day-dream, God the things I thought of during the meetings. I taught myself to listen for the "let's look this up in our bibles" or for the sound of bible pages rustling, then I would turn my bible pages. So, now one would catch on, see?
I know there were tons of dumb-ass things said, like Ritchies post talks about, I just like you, taught my brain how to go on vacation.
I will never forget saying to a frind in my chemistry class "Well evolution is just a theory." She said "Every bit of science is theory, thats so new information can be added." Hey that made sense ... and all of a sudden I realized yet one more smearing of truth. I really wanted out then.
Now it's laughable "The Sun is the largest star orbiting the universe." But there are still so many organisations which promote psuedo science. Like saying that creationism and evolution are just two different ideas...Hell o...NO. The one has physical evidence and the other has uneducated morons spouting feel good Jesus stuff...yikes.
