Is having a 9,000 pound stone (sign) adorned in 23-karat gold leaf really necessary for (true) worship?

I do not think this is a big deal.

This makes sense seeing that Jesus said that the "stones will cry out" and witness, seeing that the Witnesses are too busy "building and planting, buying and selling, marrying and being given in marriage." Wonder if the bathroom faucets are 23kt gold? Maybe champagne could flow from the faucets too?

The Watchtower Society is proving itself to be (no better) than the Churches of Christendom of which it condemns! Jesus never (required) such lavish settings.
It said a 9000lb stone sign...not a single stone...wouldn't take much to get to 9000lbs if they are laying stones to build a nice sign.
Gold leaf isn't all that big of a deal either. It's not like their using solid gold.
Sounds like it'll be nice...
Sometimes I think we look for too much to critisize. If the KH is dull, unattractive we complain...if they try to build something a little more ornate, we complain.
The important thing here is, it's not a church - it's a kingdom-hall...
