One of the most annoying things about dubs is they have all these stupid rules and no one person seems to know them all. My wifes mother said it was wrong to have a tooth fairy for our daughter because fairies are magical and whatever. So then the other day we were at the store and there was a dress for play dress up and it had fairy wings in the back. I asked my wife to call her mother and see if the fairy dress would be okay because i thought by there logic it was taboo. Nope i was wrong she said the fairy dress was ok! I have no respect for people that beleive something but have no idea why and how to use what they believe. I have more respect for a dub who applies everything the right way. i dont know either way its annoying i guess.
What's the deal with fairies?

They figure fairies are demons, but a dress is just a dress.

Boy it does not matter where you go all the Dubs have their own differnet way of viewing something you just have to guess whats OK and whats not sometimes. Even the Dubs in the Borg for 50 years has to be careful because so places thinh=gs are OK and just next door at the other congregation it might not be.

Yup, over here in this neck of the woods, not only could you not do the tooth fairy, but you couldnt' wear the fairy dress with wings either.

Now this is one of those things that it depends on the person.
Think about Walt Disney movies
Pinnochio--the Blue Fairy
Snow White--Evil Witch and dwarves
Aladdin--Magic genie and carpet
Little Mermaid--Sea Witch
Sleeping Beauty--another witch
Cinderella--Fairy godmother
Beauty and the Beast--magic spell
Lion King--voodoo magic
So if a JW has allowed their child to see any of these movies and is making a big deal out of the tooth fairy, they are a Hypocrite.

Well thats just the thing if i asked her to elaborate on why the dress is ok and tooth fairy isnt im sure she couldnt. Its just scary that somehow in her mind it makes sense.

gringojj, this is one of the things that really annoyed me as a JW. I always felt like I was standing on shifting sand.
There's all this talk of "conscience" matters, but if your conscience doesn't jive with somebody's conscience, are you supposed to adopt their interpretation because you might "stumble" them?
In any given congregation there are a number of egotistic people who think that their take on various matters is more holy and spiritual than anybody else's. They go around loudly trying to enforce their own views on everybody else...and if these people are elders or even the PO...their thinking reigns supreme.
The WTS doesn't like to make hard and fast "rules" because then they could be severely criticized or even find themselves legally liable if said rule turns out to be dumb or even dangerous...this way (in most instances) they can say that Jehovah lovingly don't make burdensome regulations...it's all up to the individual. Nice face-saving device.

Blondie, you are so right. There is hardly one Disney animated movie that doesn't deal with some form of spiritism. And yet, DUmB parents swear by these film. For many, it's all they'll let their children watch.

LOL!, next time tell her that it is wrong to have a jehovah as he is just as much magic as a toof fairy is.
