Really, just wondering if new generation of dubs is mostly faithful or tempted to “try it all out”. Are they faithful to the “mother borg” or are they starting to question it all.

I mean 10 to 20 years ago it took ages to come across some “undesirable” info about the borg, but now it is everywhere.

The other thing is don’t they feel urge to live their lives, go dating, finish university, have a normal family like any normal teen? Are there any indications of change of tide? What do you see around where you are?

I'm fully out, my sister's fully in. So, I guess its a 50-50 rentention rate (or if you apply it to my mom's family: 2 leave: 1 stay).

I figure many of the sincere JW youth don't look up the JW stuff on the internet b/c the WT tells 'em not to.

They ain't dying, but they 'ave a high turn-over rate.

In this here lil Congregation I have seen at least 15 young persons DA and DF in the last ten years. They get to an age where they ask questions or just act like normal teenagers, young adults. Its the old "Bloom of Youth" thing. They were blooming and off they went. None that I know have come back to the New World Club.

In my opinion about 60% of the people growing up are leaving. From this 60% some, maybe 1/3th are coming back to the (b)org after having a experienced the world.

It's taken 12 years, but 3 sisters and a brother are finally all out. Out of the 12 that were still going when I left, only 2 still go. From what I hear, there is not many in my generation that even go to the circiut conventions. But in the congregation I grew up in the elders were SO controlling in every aspect of our lifes. They acted like the "parents". So of course, they were consulted about every move we made. They made our lifes hell!

From my experience, and what I've seen, far more are leaving than are staying in. My 2 older sisters are still in, but my slightly younger brother and I are out. I have 3 other younger siblings, but only time with tell.

I think it's in part due to the wealth of information that we have now. Young people live on the internet, and have access to a wider scope of information than ever before. It's a chain reaction too. From my generation (I'm 25y/o) of young wittnesses, the majority of the ones I knew or acquainted with have left the org, there are only handful still in. So you've got almost this whole generation missing, which means many of their younger siblings may follow in their foot steps. Then you've also got the fact that the org has set itself apart from the "normal" world in such an impossible way. They have opened themselves up to allot of scrutiny because of their policies, and young people are switched on to that. They will tell you the young people leaving is just a sign of the end, but it's more a sign of mismanagement and deception that with time has become exposed. frog

Maybe it is the end. The end of borg. (just a thought)

The internet is definitely making it easier for people once they have doubts, however they still need to have strong doubts. In the long run I think the retention rate will drop since young ones can easily do research online now and that seems to be the preferred method they choose to do research and get information.

The drive is strong to remain in this cult though... threats of shunning by family and "friends" will force some young ones to stay and disregard their doubts.

You'll have to dig for it but an authoritative source (Maximus) claimed that the Society

had an internal study that showed the loss of young Witnesses to higher than 80%

in the US. I knew an extended Witness family that is utterly wiped out - all the grandkids

are out. Most of the Witnesses families I know are headed the same way.

If you have any doubts that this happening, consider why the Society is pressing so hard

in the assemblies and Kingdom Ministries and magazines about raising your kids "in the

truth". They're getting scared. I believe the next generation of Witnesses is being lost

and the exposure of this fact could devastate congregations.
