Andy2tanx - remember that cottage? you might have been a bit young. Everyone who DID have a fooking inside crapper used to come round and go 'oh how lovely to live in a cottage like this, how lovely for you'. My mum used to blow chunks when they had gone, there was nothing lovely about having no kitchen, no bathroom and water you had to heat up for a wash. I got bathed in the fookin' sink until i was 9 and we moved house and got a bathroom.

We were so fooking poor my mum and dad once had a massive row cos dad came home from work one day and ate a banana, just like that. Took it out of the bowl and ate it like it was his. It had been 'assigned' to a meal and wasnt spare. Mum was crying over the fooking banana. I remember being 8 when we got a telly, 12 when we got a phone and 13 when we went for my first meal in a restaurant.

I think this still hurts a bit, irrationally now, because in miss fooking middle class now, second downstairs toilet, mixer taps, car, the works.

Make no wonder we believed in bloody deemunz, we were medieval.

Question for all of you- the use of jehovah's name when demons are present, isn't that kind of like pagan chanting or something? Are jw's really taught to say The Name when they think demons are present? thanks, carla

I was told by elders and and a CO that praying to jehovah made them go away if they were attacking you, and that if that wasnt working you had to say his name out loud - literally calling on his name, because they heard his name and shuddered. That was my understanding anyway.

Mind you, shuddering isnt much of a reaction. I would be hoping for self combustion and green goo on the walls at the very least. If all they were gonna do is shudder, well I might as well just give them the frowning of a lifetime.

Katie......what a cute story! Sad......but cute. The WTS did a much better job at instilling fear than they did bravery against demons. It's unknown how many little kids lives have been marred by demon scare tactics......another strong-arm the cult uses for dubs to stick by THEM and Jehovah. Losing Jehovahs spirit is like "Dorthy" losing her magic shoes and leaving her vulnerable to the wicked witch of the west.

Sad isn't it......how this fear stuck with you for as long as it did and affected your life the way it did? My 4 sisters and I, all peed the bed till we were at least 10. we we all afraid of the dark by ourselves. I was always afraid of spending the night with a friend because I was afraid I'd piss the bed...................and I always did of course.

when I got married I was so scared of the deemunz, if my husband worked away I was too scared to go to sleep at night.

My mother said the same thing. My stepfather drove a truck and was often away for days at a time, and my brother and I would stay with my biological father on weekends. She would hear noises at night, record players would come on, and toys would activate themselves in my bedroom.

No strange things have "happened" since we stopped going to the kingdom hell. There is no fear or paranoia.

Now, doesn't the bible often speak of fearing evil as a bad thing? Yet for some reason the JWs love to create it.

Katie, my dear sweet long lost friend, top bird and drinking buddy..... no I don't remember that cottage, I am considerably younger than you!! I remember the house at the bottom of that steep hill in Batley with the downstairs kitchen. Do you remember how I WAS GONNA BUY YOU THE WHOLE BACK CATALOGUE OF THE hOODOO gURUS FOR YOUR WEDDING PRESENT, AND YOU SAID THAT REALLY WASN'T A Practical gift!! (Fookin caps lock!!) Hell, at least you got out of West Yorkshire, I'm still here.... (glum) I got the chance to go to switzerland and like a **** I turned it down. What a knobber!! As for the deemunz, Jeez I was shite scared of them. I still watch dodgy films with a tiny amount of unease. In fact, never got around to watching the Exorcist or Poltergeist. How much of a little boy still am I?!! Calling out his name! My arse!
