They are still against education today as much as in the 70's and 80's even if the end is not necessarily near any more it's always better to serve jehovah, oops the WTS.

Captainschmideo - now that you have given the prowlers from Bethel info about an elder from your congo being in it - I wonder how long they will take to track you down.
There were posters here who were DF on the basis of personal info they posted on this board.

I appreciate your concern. The same thought crossed my mind.
I guess they would have to figure out which assembly this was, and on what date it was recorded.
Otherwise, one guy in a fake beard looks like any other....
If the prowlers can spend this much time trying to ferret out this kind of info, imagine what they could be doing if they spent the time more productively?

This frustrates me to no end. In my years of being a JW, I knew very, very few pioneers who seemed to really be happy.
In fact, the only JWs I knew that seemed to be sincerely happy were the ones who balanced secular life with their spiritual life. They did pursue a moderate amount of worldly wealth, enjoying what this life has to offer, at the same time being quite active in the congregation. A large portion of them were businessmen of one sort of another, most with educations. And a large portion of their children went into higher education as well, or were placed in one of the Elder cronies businesses, or were otherwise pruned for the secular world. And yet all the while warning against the spiritual dangers of all of these things.
They enjoyed yearly ski trips, large houses, nice cars (BMW, BENZ, etc.)... And these were mostly elders. While the ones who were most active and most shunned worldly accomplishments were treated as underdogs. Hmm, sounds familiar... sounds much like the worldly, secular class system here in the US.
I can't wait until my parents come back from their convention. I get to hear how inspired they feel and how wonderful brother So-and-so's talk was and how strong this other So-and-so is. And weeks later, when the buzz is gone, I note how lonely they are since they are not of the "Upper class" of JWs and rarely get invited to anything and rarely get visits, unless on Sat. after service, even though my mother has been battling cancer for years. How uplifting.

What is amazing about this drama is the extreme scriptural fiction.
All we know about Timothy's youth is that he had a Greek father and was taught the scriptures from infancy.
This whole agenda against materialism, higher education, business, etc. presented around Timothy is completely made up by the society.
Here condemned by their own words:
Watchtower 1997 6/1 pp. 13-14 A Secret Christians Dare Not Keep!
7
In contrast with humans, who have a limited life span, Jehovah never feels pressured by time to reveal his secrets prematurely. This fact should prevent us from becoming impatient when certain Bible questions cannot presently be explained to our satisfaction. Modesty on the part of the faithful and discreet slave class, commissioned to provide the Christian household with food at the proper time, prevents it from presumptuously running ahead and wildly speculating about things that are still unclear. The slave class strives to avoid being dogmatic. It is not too proud to admit that as of now it cannot answer every question, keeping Proverbs 4:18 clearly in mind. But how thrilling to know that Jehovah, in his own due time and in his own way, will continue to reveal his secrets as to his purposes! Never should we become impatient with Jehovah’s arrangement, indiscreetly trying to rush ahead of the Revealer of secrets. How reassuring it is to know that the channel Jehovah is using today does not do so! It is both faithful and discreet.—Matthew 24:45; 1 Corinthians 4:6. That has got to be the phoniest drama ever!! Those poor JWs tht have to sit through such utter garbage. The prerecorded voices sound so phoney it ain't funny. Who ever made up the dialogue for that should be sent back to grade school to get an education because it sure sounded like a real dummy wrote the script, I seen better scripting of a talk by a teenager on a # 3 talk.
What kind of writers, do they have over thier in Brooklyn,, either they are very old, or very young.

And all the WT drones said, "Amen".
If you putWTspiritual matters first in your life give us a "Hallelujah".
Isn't it great to have such a lovingGBgod who paves our path for us. -

I have not been to one of these drone festivals in about a decade but its incredible how nothing at all has changed. Watching this reminds me of a north korean propaganda film from the 1950s. I pity the poor children born into the borg who through no fault of their own will suffer deep indoctrination, but adults who willingly swallow this mindless drivel...no excuses at all. I would expect more intelligent dialogue from a lobotomy patient. The sound of those voices transmitted over the loudspeakers, reverberating through that stadium, brings back such vivid memories of sitting in those horrid plastic chairs for 8 hours a day in the stifling humidity......oh freedom is sweet!!!!!!!!!

I haven't been able to make myself watch the entire clip, I'm afraid I might miss something on the third replay of sportcenter.
Michelle Wie still missed the cut.
