I have to say I admire you for leaving the abusive husband. How absolutely INSANE that someone would show an abuser the type of reasoning those wackos showed your husband! That's part of the beauty of being 'out' - we know there is no ONE SIZE FITS ALL appoach to living a full and happy life. We can make our own decisions and live our own lives, with the input we choose to accept from our friends, loved ones and professionals et al.

Wow, what an experience. Yeah, it seems so many are recruited at a low point in their lives. My mom was too.

AFter reading your post, I'm like"no wonder mom is always telling me that men like to feel like they're in the lead and that they're naturally needing to feel that, so we shouldn't take that away from them." (referring to me and my husband arguing.) She's been saying that a lot lately. She too came in in the late 70's early 80's with the Truth book and the "Family Life" book (green one.)

Hello there, and welcome. The very first part of your story sounds just exaclty like my mothers. She had planned to commit suicide, and kill all of her 5 children, because my father was violent. Same story, she was saved at the door, just in the nick of time. Difference is she stayed with him, and he became a jw too. I am happy for you, not only that you are now out, but that you were able to use a psychiatrist to help you with your exit issues. That is great! Again, welcome and hope to hear more from you soon.

Amazing how the dubs turn up suddenly when someone is at a low point, they say it's god's angels that do it but I doubt that very much given their abusive nature, it is rather the satanic angels that are directing their preaching work.

welcome out of the box. your post name is neat....that's exactly how i felt when i left. thanks for sharing your story. i too felt bad about what I put my four kids, but apologized and still do when the occasion arises. i tell them the circumstances of becoming a jw...loneliness, feeling lost, and idiot for a husband and they understand. although i've been out of jw's for five years i've fairly new to this site and am appreciating the support here.
