I have some relatives that went last year and you would've thought that they'd seen their old onmiscient sockpuppet god GEE-Ho-bah himself.

They're trying to talk me into taking a trip to NY with them, but I know it'll just turn into another "let's go to Brooklyn and suck up to the WT " sideshow.

LOL, mini it was the Bethel tour my brother did in the late 60's that convienced him he didn't want to go to Bethel after all. To this day he says the tour of Bethel was the best thing he could have done before signing up for four years of Bethel service.

and I thought he was just my dumb little brother..........

Living in Bethel is like being in prison----even thought I never got the "privilege". Thank God.

    I only went once.

It was actually kind of weird. Part of me knew, deep down, that it all sucked. But the part of me that didn't want to offend anyone, the part that wanted to show appreciation for the deep spiritual things of Jehovah, went along with everyone else as they oooooh'ed and aahhhhh'ed over the printing presses, the cassette tape replicators, the gardens, the property that had been procured in Jehovah's name. The part of me that knew that it all sucked felt guilty about having those awful "This is it?" thoughts. The other part of me never said a word about it to anyone else, but continued to pretend and proclaim what a wonderful, spiritual place Bethel was.

After the Bethel trip, I soon stopped aspiring to some day join the Bethel family.

As a young boy, all I remember is my mother saying, "Look! The floors are so clean, you could eat from them!".

I'm sure if they thought they could get away with it, they would serve Spiritual Food just that way.

I thought it was great at the time. We arranged for the tour guide to be a friend of the family, and she arranged for us to eat lunch there. The food was great!

Ok, thinking about it now, the only thing I remember from the tour, was the food. So, I guess the tour sucked, but the lunch was A-OK!

BTW ... what's with the after lunch left-over hawks???

    Kwin
