Adult convert here, deeply devoted, but generally "spiritually weak" - rarely out in service. Went inactive for a solid year - not a single meeting, day of field service, or convention - and then formally DA'd. That was ten years ago.

I was born into it pretty much ...its all i remember...faded 2 years ago.Up til 95 i really,genuinely believed it .
Still an escapes an escape.
Good question kid a.Are you a Radiohead fan per chance?
Its hard to say. I know without a doubt I would NEVER have become a dub if I hadn't been born into it. It seems like a lot of people who bought it felt they were missing something or had a tragedy in their lives or something. They might be a little less willing to research and get out of it. Time will tell.

I was 'born in', 3rd/4th gen, 24-7 JWs, model JWit myself, started the fade at 17/18. It just never made sense, and hypocrasy was the nail in the coffin for me.
From what I've been able to gather over the years, about 1/2 of the ones I grew up with left ...
tal
for the stats - I was borg'ed from birth

I was born into it, my parents were recent, recent converts. Both claimed that had hid when JW's came to their door in the past, but then something changed, and I'm not sure what. My mother had no previous association with JWs, but my dad had been to KH with his mom when he was a kid and then just faded out. My faith was tested by the death of one parent at 10 yrs old, and by 13 I was leading a double life as they say. Never was baptized. My dad had horrible health problems so there was no exceeding pressure on him to become an elder, therefore less pressure on me to be baptized. By 18 I was leading my own life. In my experience at the KH I went to all my life, only those born into it or married into it seemed to leave. Suddenly a three-times-weekly fixture would just vanish; a few weeks would go by and you would think, "Where'd so-and-so go?" And then you would hear of their df-ing, or their da-ing. I'm sure it happens to all, though.
Born into the madness, didnt get baptised, left in my early 20's. Mom is still hoping I'll come back even though I got baptised at my church earlier this year
Very interesting, and there seems to be a common theme developing...
fleaman: Im a massive Radiohead fan, where is that next album?????
GBL: I feel exactly the same way....I just always knew I would NEVER have chosen this belief system if I hadnt been dragged into it kicking and screaming...for as long as I can remember something just didnt feel right....and this was before I had any specific logical objections to the theological nonsense that was being pounded into my impressionable brain!
FYI, my dad is still a P.O. !! ha ha.
I was in 3rd grade when my parents became JWs. A couple years later my younger sister was climbing up a trailer hitch on a old utility bed after her kitten. It came down and split her head open, and busted her eyeball in 3 pieces. I'll never forget that they were willing to let her bleed to death. No surgeon would touch her. Finally they found one. She came thru with flying colors, with her vision intact. She was paraded around town like she was on display. It made me sick!! That's why today, in my nursing career, I will continue to attempt to help those victims that cannot help themselves. If that includes helping a hospital obtain guardianship, so be it!!

My grandfather, who died in the early 50s as well as some of his bros and sisters, and aunts and uncles, etc were JWs but my mother never was baptised but went off and on during her life so I really wasn't raised in the truth and only came into it when I was a teen.
