Not an Apostofest, just a beer and a sandwich. Is anyone up for it?

Looking good. If anyone else wants to join us just say so. I suggest Thursday 4th August, it gives everyone enough notice plus it happens to be good for me!
Now we need a good pub . . . . . .

I don't finish work until 5.30 and live in the depths of surrey, but would like to come and will be extra nice to lifesagarden this time!!! It might not be practical given train times and stuff. I'm not sure I even know where Bucks is!!!
Will I be the only girl? Will I be the only one with no geographical ability?

Just out of curiosity, what exactly does a pub lunch consist of?

Luna - a pub lunch would be anything on the menu and a few beers/cider/wine - whatever your favourite tipple is. Most pubs (bars) offer a variety of sandwiches, crisps, salads, chips, burgers and if its a gastro pub you can expect pricey but gourmet food. as for me I tend to stick to two or three pints of cider.
However you have pointed a crucial point and that is that this is a lunch invite and therefore I cannot possibly make it. I only get a one hour lunch break and most days I don't even get that.

Aww, shoot, Crumpet...that's too bad.
Not that I can go either (much as I'd like to). Flying to England is not in the cards for me this year. Hmmm, wonder if I'd do it even if I could as I'd be on my own. Maybe, if I can ever afford to travel again, I'll have to see if I can find someone who'd go with me.

Luna - travelling alone is sooo much fun! I love it! Although I've not been as far as over the pond on my own so like you I might be a little reticent. You should hook up with some of your country folks and come over to Eman's apostabbq next year!

Luna - Crumpet pretty much summed up a Pub Lunch but she's obviously much classier than I am. (Gastro Pub? Gourmet food?) For me a pub lunch is a couple of cold beers, a cheese and pickle sandwich and a good laugh with your mates - you can't beat it!
Australians and Americans tend to think that British pubs are completely amoral pits of drunkeness, vice and debauchery - completely unsuitable for genteel ladies like Crumpet and Jehoobers true people . . . . another good reason to go!
Sadly I can only do lunch and would have to leave by about 2.30 at the latest. For something in the evening I too would suggest (and hope one day to get to) Englishman's bbq.
