Is this thread appropriate, using the deceased name??
You afraid the dead guy might bring a civil Slander suit against us?

The obituary has already been published in the newspaper (in print and online). I don't see a problem with it being posted here.
u soooo crazy.
How typical, that the sweet little older sister, would be labelled "weak"...here she is, helping others, not as fortunate as she, probably looking after herself, LAST....putting others first, and because her meeting attendance was low, she is a weak one....ugh!!!! I agree with Es, they should send donations to her.....at the very least, the congregation should be looking after her.

I knew Buckley back in the sixties. Back then he was also a mooch and a conniver. He would get his pioneer time in for the year in about six to eight months, ( had a sharp pencil ?) and spend the rest of the year away from his assignment. He was always scheming for fast money making schemes. He was assigned by WT one time to Magdeline islands where each spring the seal hunt is on where they club baby seals to death for their pelts.
He persuaded some brothers from the prairies who had a plane (ski-plane I believe that could land on the ice }to participe one spring. Buckley nearly perished when he fell in a slush filled ice hole while away from others.
His accomlices got into trouble with the gov't for transporting a baby seal back to Saskatchewan, a no. no, for environmental reasons.
Their money making scheme was a failure, so the following year, he was going to try again. I wanted me to find a helicopter company, at my own expense, to participate the following year.
The obituary did not state that he left any wife behind. Not that he didn't try to find one. But that is another long drawn out soap opera. Why beat a dead horse,
OK, my wife, tells me I should include the following:
When she was single, Buckley, phoned her up to ask her for a date. He did not have an operational vehicle at that time, so he asked that her pioneer partner who had a car, drive her through heavy Montreal traffic to rendezvous with him. After the date, the pioneer partner was to come back and pick them up and transport them home. Yueeechh!
As a full time minister of Jehovah for over 48 years Gordon joyfully shared his hope with others for a better life under God's Government (Daniel 2:44) and the promises this Government would bring (Rev. 21:4).
Question:
Whoever wrote and submitted the obituary gets to count this as field misery work because there are scriptures quoted here, right?

In lieu of flowers donations can be made on Gordon Buckley's behalf to the Watchtower Society, Box 4100, Halton Hills (Georgetown), ON L7G 4Y4. Arrangements entrusted to: VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME CREMATORIUM 220 Hespeler Ave. @ Henderson Hwy. 668-3151
I just had a most evil idea.
Anyone who knew Gordon Buckley can send one of Richie Rich's Special Donation Cheques to the WTS in Canada on his behalf.
This could be part of a campaign to get the WTS to tell JWs to stop soliciting donations from the public via obituaries etc.

Excellent idea.
Now, as to my question above. Do you have an answer?

nothing would surprise me... whoever "crafted" the language of the obituary certainly painted his JW lifestyle in a very positive light, obviously for public consumption... just like the Memorial Talkā¢ will be. Someone is counting the time, I'm sure.
