Do your ears "hear" things?

okay okay yes we all hear - well most of us. BUT do you ever hear things that you think aren't there.

Like this morning I was lying in bed, fully awake and rational, just enjoying the quiet, when I heard this sound "like a rushing wind" (that is the exact thought that came into my mind) When I heard that sound & the thought crossed my mind, so did that scripture in ACTS where it speaks about when the holy spirit came upon the 120 in the upper room.

And the sound didn't stop - it just carried on. I thought perhaps it was the ""elevator"" sound but just not elevatorish - very strange.

But I seem to be alright and everything is where it should be, so perhaps it was just the blood rushing past the ear drums....who knows.

Only when my blood pressure is up. I'll hear ringing or rushing in my ears then and it's time to either back away from whatever I've been doing to raise the pressure, or check my diet.

Have you had your blood pressure checked when the ears are doing that?

I used to occassionally hear a high tone...not something related to blood pressure as I heard it more as a child and teenager than I do now. I think it's called somethng...tinnitus?...if it happens frequently. Fortunately, it's only happened to me for extremely short periods of time.

Other than that, I thought I heard knocking when I was in the shower this morning. I jumped out of the shower, grabbed a towel and peeked out the window...but nobody was at the door. I was glad.

I have two little boys 2 and 6 months. I will wake up at night and I swear i here one of them crying but when I check they will both be sound asleep...this happens often....i hear crying but nothing there and the windows will be closed...hmmmm

I sometimes hear the door open but then again the door will be locked and no one else around...kinda creepy but then again i have a very active imagination. When I was younger I would see people outside...only to find out when I went outside there was no one there.

i was gonna say something funny..but then i remembered

    this happens to me..

    nothing outrageous..(and not demons)

i think the emotional effect of df-ing being shunned abandoned etc etc has an effect on our brains so that it starts to play tricks on us..and we hear things..like you described or people calling our name or other things..i reckon that it has happened to most posters here but not so dramatically that it has been so noteworthy..i wouldnt have remembered if you hadnt triggered my memory

I have tinnitus....the irritating noise of silence.

Mine is congenital, has nothing to do with hearing loss....in fact I've always had above-average hearing (e.g. I could tell from the sidewalk if someone was home when we went door-to-door, in cases where the TV was on but silenced on mute because it emitted a high-pitched sound). My ear doctor told me once it is just picking up noise generated by neural processing.

Does anyone "see" things too? I have lots of floaters, and in addition to that I can often see the blood flowing through the capillaries in my eyes under the right circumstances (i.e. with the right background). Sometimes if I'm bored and just stare, I can watch the rhythm of the blood flowing in time with my heart beat.

When I get really tired, say after 24 hours + awake, I hear Elvis singing to me.

Tinnitus: A sound in one ear or both ears, such as buzzing, ringing, or whistling, occurring without an external stimulus and usually caused by a specific condition, such as an ear infection, the use of certain drugs, a blocked auditory tube or canal, or a head injury.

Yeah, I hear things and see things. Tinnitus and Floaters.

However, one morning my boyfriend and I were getting ready to leave my basement apartment, and I heard the dog that lived upstairs running across the wood floor - her nails tapping on the floor as she ran. A usual occurance when her "mom" came home. I said to Kevan, "Oh, there goes Chewie, Marion must be home!".

Well, we went out around to the drive and Marion was just getting to her stairs. She told me that Chewie had gotten hit in the road last night and she had to put her down.....

And things that go bump in the night...

I once woke up in the night with a wind like noise in my ears, it was deafening but I knew it was only in my head, glad I now have a name for it.
