Are they not loosening up on the blood issue though, every year more and more components are allowed.
Clever plan Greendawn. In a few years' time they'll allow whole blood WITH additivies (then it simply won't just be whole blood). Fiendish.

At the assembly (District Assembly) there was a talk on the resurrection.
The speaker said, "Some people have even gone so far as to make comments like, 'You'll never have to grow up in this system, Armageddon will be here by then.' Never would we want to be that presumptuous." I was like, WHAT? The only reason people say stuff like that is because the Society has printed that in their literature since the early 1900's! Geez.
Would that count as new light? Flip-flop? What's the difference?

It has always been okay to be a police officer in the US as long as you didn't carry a gun. That does limit what you can do though so police agencies may be reluctant to hire a JW or adjust an employee's duties if they become a JW.
Actually you can be a gun toting Cop in the U.S. and be baptized. So long as you don't use the gun other than for self defense you are ok. The sticker is this, you cannot be appointed for any congregation responsibilities of any kind so long as you're packin. IN any case the pressure is on for them to get out of the gun weilding assignments.
Know of Two Cops who are witnesses.
W.Once
I knew two policemen who were JWS both were chief constables. I used to go out drinking with one of them, He told me not worry about drink-driving becuace I would be alright as I was him. Both left the Jws.
That's right, you can't be an elder or an MS and be a gun-carrying police officer/security guard. But then what self-respecting brother would want to avoid those "privileges"?
(WTS rules are so complicated)
However, in Texas you can have a concealed weapon permit AND carry AND remain an elder...
Just small piddley stuff like batting pinatas?
Huh?
The pinata thing -
I remember when I was a kid, pinatas were forbidden as they were linked with birthdays in the Hispanic culture. I'm not Hispanic, I just always wanted to try one out. It seemed like fun - whacking something with a stick until candy rained down.
Not too long ago, a WT or Awake! (can't remember which) pontificated on pinatas and seemed quite tolerant. I noticed the stark contrast between the tone of the article and what had been witness attitudes in years past.
Maybe the WT is trying to make itself more palatable to a growing minority population? Anyways, the reasoning was: don't judge something by its past, judge something for what it is now. Seemed curious, since that line of reasoning dismantles the current prohibition on birthdays. Makes me wonder if there's more New Light around the corner. One can hope, right?! It would make good business sense to make this miserable cult appear more mainstream.
