Sorry to hear about your troubles. Ultimatums tend to backfire on you If you are worried about leaving her "in the clutches" of the JW world, try offering her your ear whenever she begins to have doubts and questions. If you can leave the relationship on somewhat of a good note and leave the door open to future communication, it might come in handy later on down the road.

I agree with Damsel Fly. If you love her, leave on a good note. Tell her you are there when she needs you, when she has doubts. Tell her you dont want her to get hurt. A stand-off is not a good idea.

I think a big shocker for most non-JW's is how powerfully the programming takes hold, even after a year. A year is too late. She's too far gone.
I love the bookbag idea. She will feel in her own weird way that you are supporting her decision (her independent decision to become a drone), and it will be staring her in the face in the drudging years ahead as she trudges from door to door.
If you let her go, gracefully, keeping yourself available any time she has doubts about her decision, you will be her safe trap-door exit out of the cult. You can move on, of course. Go find a new girl. But if she does come out (and it can take years to wake up) you can help her as a friend.
Last night was a blow-out, there is something to winning a battle but losing the war. I think we have agreed to be friends.
About the book bag send off gift. Funny thing is, I thought I was buying her a purse that she eyed and told me about. So I spent the hundred bucks on it and surprised her with it a couple of months ago. I noticed she was not using it so I asked her, why arent you using that new purse? She said oh well its more of a book bag...... Funny thing is, I didnt get it then.... ouch that hurts.
