Lucid Dreaming Thread, and is it for Christians?

Someone posted a thread about Lucid Dreaming recently, and, of course, I can not find it again! (Simon, when are you going to get the site's search function working again?)

Lucid dreaming is where one "wakes up" while still dreaming, and one can be "aware" of what is going on within your dreams.

    Sounds interesting, doesn't it?

Now the thread that I cannot find, was also interesting because it contained a link to a website of a company that makes a machine to help one become a lucid dreamer!

Which leads to the question, Is lucid dreaming for Christians?

The Watchtower would probably say "No!"

but, consider this, lucid dreaming is not losing any control of a person's thinking ability, in fact, lucid dreaming sounds like, if anything, results in greater awareness and control over a person's own thinking.

While dreaming in the regular manner, people do NOT have control over the direction their dreams take.

So lucid dreaming, with the greater control it offers to people over their own thinking (while asleep), should be entirely proper for Christians.

    Does anyone remember that thread?

Me thinks you might mean this?

    http://www.lucidity.com/novadreamer.html

It basically detects rem and sends a trigger to wake semi wake you during rem.

I've never used it but have had many lucid dreams without it. Its all about preconditioning the conscious to become awake during rem.

During a lucid dream I've felt more awake than I do right now.

IP - That is because you are dreaming right now - you are just a lucid part of our dreams - or are we a lucid part of yours - I forget - did I just wake up - or am I sleeping.......Lucid... Lucy... Laverne.... Latino..... Liver transplant.... er... sorry was dreaming.... Jeff

    Jeff,

For anyone who has had a really lucid dream your questions are not that strange. After I had a couple in a row once, I had to start checking to see if I was really awake during the day. They are that real. The sights, sounds, the feeling of the floor under your feet... you cannot tell the difference between the dream and real life, other than you can accomplish some mighty great feats when you are dreaming lucid.

I don't remember a thread but I do know about lucid dreaming. It's a good technique to use if you're having nightmares. There is a good book on it called The Lucid Dreaming Workbook. It's out of print but I've seen it on Amazon and in libraries.

That's it exactly. I learned how to control my dreams when I was in therapy, and it was a big factor in helping me recover. I think anyone can do it, all it requires is the will and persistence to do so.

Have you ever "rewound" your dream, or added colors, music, etc.? It's a great way to control nightmares.

Thank you everyone for your replies.

I found the thread I was thinking of:

"Talking to God in a Lucid Dream"

    http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/94318/1.ashx

The company in that thread that makes a lucid dreaming machine has the website

    http://www.thedreamq.com/index.htm

I have to decide if I want to investigate/research lucid dreaming personally.

As said, I'm sure Lucid Dreaming would be considered demon influenced by the dubs. But it is facinating stuff. Been there.

I've also had some dreams so real that I have difficulty remembering if it was a dream of if it was real. I've also revisited dreams and dream sites. The sub- semi- conscious mind is facinating.
