Does God Care If We Get All Dressed Up To Worship Him?

Let's face the facts about getting ready for a meeting to worship. It takes up at least 15-20 minutes for a guy to get the 'dub look' on and maybe more for the girls. Do you think God really cares about how we look on the outside or is He more interested in what's on the inside?

I read the accounts of Jesus and the Sermon on the mount and other situations when he taught the crowds and just don't get why the dubs have to spend so much time getting 'ready for the meeting' other than to impress the worldlings they so despise as scummy dross who will soon be destroyed at the big A.

    Any independent thoughts about this?

It is all a matter of people trying to impress each other with appearances.

I don't think God cares one little bit. There is no dress code in the bible. The church we attend is everyone in whatever they felt like wearing- everything from jeans & t-shirts to dressed up. The pastor wears hawaiin shirts. Casual, comfortable and welcoming.

As long as your heart is in the right place it should not matter.

Yes ... I'd make sure my hard is in the right place.

I don't think clothes make a difference. The JW's just wear the suits and ties to get the salesman look, same with the shaving deal. Ole' judge Rutherford wanted suits ... and that's what he got!

if he doesn't care that people suffer, i don't think he'd care if people wore whatever they want. the simple fact is that he doesn't care.

i would have to disagree with the majority so far...i think proper dress for the event is important... it does show respect for god (whomever you believe he/she is) i think society in general has become very lax in decorum in all ways of life. surely god will judge your hearts, but there is a proper dress for different places, or situations. i could go before a judge in a bathing suit, i could go to a wedding in my pajama's, i could go to a nice dinner in a jogging suit and t-shirt. it is mostly about respect, and everyone nowadays WANTS it, but most do not want to GIVE it... just my opinion

Clothes are worn w respect to other people. So, you are saying that the same should be done toward god? Let's say then that you are taking a bath, or sleeping nude or in pj's. If you get the urge to pray or worship god, you would immediately get up and put on a suit, pray or worship, then change back into pj's or whatever, and go to sleep. Interesting.
