I was 4 years old in 1958 and I was there. I remember all the people and everyday I would bug my parents to sit down on the grass field. I also got to ride a camel at the Bronx zoo. We went to the museum of natural history and I got to see the large dinosaur skeleton. My parents drove us from central IL to NY city for that convention. My dad took the cult hook, line and sinker. What was so relentlessly stupid in those days was not just the length of those assemblies (8 days) morning to night but the PA systems were so bad then you couldn't hear what was being said half the time.
Extremely hard for kids to sit from morning to night listening to shit they couldn't understand or wanted to understand.
I got sun stroke once sitting in the direct sun while at one of those summer assemblies, I was about 12 years old.
