Good point about R.Kelly. How come he can have sex with young teen girls, exclusively sing about the glories of sex, get arrested, etc. and no big deal??

Good music. And he has sex with young girls, not boys. That seems to be more acceptable. Although not as acceptable as older women having sex with young boys.

R. Kelly isn't somebody I listen to, but I'm hunching it's his audience/fan base. Jail time might have even enhanced his image. Not sure why he's not more villified for having sex with young girls, though.
Michael Jackson is a pop icon....different kettle of fish. I didn't even particularly follow the trial, but you couldn't avoid images of him being escorted into the courtroom in his pajamas, glombing onto Jesse Jackson and going back to JW meetings to make himself look holy, dancing around on the roof of a van to the cheers of his most fanatic fans...it was all so bizaar. The impression I'm getting is that he now appears to be a pathetic loser, even if he did technically win, and that is so not cool.
Good point about the Greatest Hits thing too...seems to me to be a very poor time to have put that out, like a transparent bid to make a quick buck.
Although, it may be that he's simply passé and the world has moved on.
