It has got to be a hoax or they are extremely naive. I don't doubt there are quite a few old witness that wake up one day and realize the WT isn't the truth and that they have wasted their lives for nothing. But this idea of trying to sell three book that would have a very limited audience seems a little goofy to me. Also I wonder how long could they do this without getting caught and kicked out?
I doubt the veracity of the site but is does make you wonder how many old dubs there are in a similar position. I remember Bill Cetnar spoke of an old man that was there at Bethel when he was there. He said this person had serve there most of his life. As he got old an senile he began swearing out loud. When he couldn't stop they through him out on the street with nothing for all his years of service. The Watchtower only takes care of old workers if they accept and do everything they are told. Do witness every think about the fact that they wouldn't get Social Security if the government was as harsh and mean spirited as the Watchtower.
Well... doing a bit of amateur detective work...
Looking on ZabaSearch.com for a Margaret Runge...
There are three that pop up - but not in the Patterson, NY area code (845).
There is a Mickey Runge that is in the 845 area code - for Patterson... no age or address... this might fit the profile one would be looking for.
Interesting.
Regards,
Jim TX
P.S.
I did a 'WhoIs' on the web domain name... www.watchtowerfarm.org
It turns up as being registered to a Margaret Runge - who lives in Jamaica, NY (also has a hotmail addy) - actually... a complete address is given - which I will not put here in public... but this Margaret Runge is shown by Zaba to be about... 59 years old.
Interesting what one can find out in a matter of minutes.
Another note: Patterson Educational Center (in Patterson, NY) and the Watchtower Farm are not the same place. They are about 1 1/2 or 2 hours away from each other. On the 'about us' page, it says that they are at WT farms, and then underneath where you can donate or order the books, it says Patterson, NY..... hmmmmmmm |
If it's true, then I hope they can get out. I laughed at the how to become and elders book, though.
I don't mind remaining skeptical until the veracity of this site can be confirmed. If this person is for real and is lurking here, consider the scepticism is for your protection. I like that this site provides a lot of valid information for newcomers. I wouldn't like it if the message got mixed up in a lot of misinformation.
even if its a hoax its a funny one heheh i wouldnt mind reading the becoming an elder book. es
I bought and downloaded a copy of the "Elder" book. My take on it is that it was written by someone very familiar with internal borg processes who yearns for a more genuine and "spiritual" advancement model than the "kiss hank's ass" model that is currently in place. So there ARE elements of satire - severe satire - in the book.
Of the Maria Russell books, I know that "The Twain One" was published by her. If they say the second one was too, that's good enough for me. I will order both to satisfy my curiousity. There are ABSOLUTELY NO copyright restrictions, since Maria's books were written so long ago. They are public domain and anyone can republish them.

I found an auction for "The Twain One". The location is Jamaica Estates, NY.

If that doesn't work, it's auction # 4565659837
This is very interesting. I emailed the ebay account holder asking who publishes the book. The person auctioning this book says it is new. The ebay accountholders name is dutchiesdesignerapparel. This account was created in May. There is only one feedback and it looks like from what the buyer said it was a book. There is a picture and if you put the cursor over it it says photobucket. The seller is from New York. I also noticed a reference to a Butchies Books Online on the website.
