Sep 15th WT: At it again: WT says elements in the UN will attack religion

It seems that the Watchtower has not learnt any lessons regarding their involvement in the United Nations. Perhaps they think the outcry that a few witnesses made a couple of years ago has died down. They have been silent about the United Nations for about 3 years – until they published an article in the Sep 15 th Watchtower, "Walk by Faith, Not by Sight!"

Under the subheading, Keeping the End in Sight, paragraph 12 briefly talks about the destruction of

    Paragraph 13 reads as follows:

Something similar is about to take place in our day. Elements within the United Nations will be involved in the execution of divine judgement. Just as the Roman armies of the first century were designed to maintain the Pax Romana (Roman Peace), the United Nations of today is intended to be a peacekeeping instrument. Although the Roman armies tried to ensure relative safety throughout the then known world, they became the desolater of . Likewise today, Bible prophecy indicates that militarized powers within the United Nations will see religion as a disturbing element and will act to destroy modern-day – Christendom – as well as the rest of the Great. Yes, the entire world empire of false religion stands on the brink of destruction.

Now this is a very interesting paragraph. They stopped short of their usual persecution complex, whereby they say the UN will turn on Jehovah’s Witnesses and then comes Armaggedon. They fail to notice statements made by Tony Blair, that not all Muslims are bad, and that only a few are extremists. Even Bush notes that a few are bent on destroying democratic freedoms, and he is an advocate of faith based funding. Bush is a “professed Christian” himself; can you really imagine him nodding his head up and down and saying, “Yes, let’s destroy the religion that I believe in.” I mean, if any religion does go, it is bound to be Islam as that’s where most of the problems of the world are stemming from.

    Continuing with Paragraph 14…

The desolation of false religion will mark the beginning of the great tribulation. In the final part of the tribulation, the remaining elements of this wicked system of things will be destroyed. Walking by faith keeps us alert to the fulfilment of Bible prophecy. We are not duped into thinking that any man-made agency like the United Nations is God’s means of bringing true peace and security. So, then, should not our way of life demonstrate our conviction that “the great day of Jehovah is near?”

What hypocritical liars! They maintain an active NGO appointment with the harlot they have been denouncing for years, getting ordinary witnesses to spread UN propaganda, agreeing to the principles of the charter of the UN, and then tell us that we should not be duped? Who are they kidding? They have been duped for 10 years during their active NGO membership. Utter fools those men in are. What do they take us for? Sheep?

    Is this a contradiction here?

"Elements within the United Nations will be involved in the execution of divine judgment."

This implies that God is going to use the United Nations as a means to execute his plans to remove the present system of things, and establish true peace and security through the Kingdom.

We are not duped into thinking that any man-made agency like the United Nations is God’s means of bringing true peace and security.

Either God uses the United Nations, or he does not.

Just as the Roman armies of the first century were designed to maintain the Pax Romana (Roman Peace),

Everything is about the f*cking "first century." Really, the Pax Romana was a main part of Augustus' administration and it was continued by his successors. Why the f*ck are they comparing the UN to the Roman Army?

Perhaps it's late and I'm tired, but that just really pisses me off (a crappy analogy that is).

It's all about the first century because it sounds snappier. Duh. x)

It's gone from the UN being the disgusting thing that will turn on and devour Christendom, then on Jehovahs people then the end will come to " Elements within the United Nations will be involved in the execution of divine judgement". Geez, can it get any more vague.

Is this going to be watered down to nothing like 1914 was?

It appears that the references here to the UN and its purported role in the fulfilment of Bible prophecy have been significantly toned down from the WT's previously strident, anti-UN rhetoric.

Note that no reference is made to Revelation's ``image to the wild beast" and that the ones to do the persecuting are now limited to ``elements within" the UN rather than the organization as a whole. Since most nations are members, the identification of the future source of their troubles as ``elements within" rather than the UN itself, has watered down the prediction to the point of meaninglessness.

Rather tame, I would say, in comparison to what's printed in their Revelation books and elsewhere. It all seems carefully worded to moderate without actually going so far as to disavow anything they've previously stated about the UN. After all, they still recognize that the UN can do a lot to help in their fight for recognition in those areas of the world in which they've come under greater critical sscrutiny.

The US is more saturated with republican christians today than it ever was before. There is NO WAY in hell that the UN is going to step up and say let's abolish religion when the religions and their members control all the voting power and the money. It's an absurd idea. Just ridiculous when you think about it logically.

There is too much money invested in religion, faith based programs, etc.

They need to wake up and smell the coffee.

They may be correct in their vagueness to a degree. They suggest the UN will be involved with attacking religion. The current world situation would suggest that could happen at some point. But the object of attack would be against those religious elements alraedy being fought - the fundamental extremist of Islam most likely.

A perchance involvment of the UN in current affairs against radical elements would be pointed to by the Wt as fullfillment of it's 'prophetic utterances', and would serve to force adherants to the center of the organization again. They could point that the 'next logical step' would be an attack on Christendom, then all religion together. It would be like 1975 all over again.

I think the WTS is hoping the UN gets involved directly in the war on terror to bolster it's role as prophet.
