Hey all, I just had a flash back when for about a year my ex and i didnt have a car to get to the meetings. One thursday night I was going but my ex wasnt so I rang my friend a brother to come and pick me up. Anyway after the meeting was finished, he asked me to sit in the back seat on the way home, apparenlty the elders had had a chat with him and said it wasnt appropriate to have a sister in his car without anyone else and that it would be better if i sat in the back. I couldnt believe it, I mean really if i wanted to jump the guy i would have done it whether i was in the front or the back seat. I didnt go to meetings for ages after that. Whats some other stories you have. es

yeah I had a similar experience but was told not to even offer the sister and her young son a ride. In my case I was told not to because it was known that the sister had the hots for me.

I don't blame the elders or whoever told your friend, the brother, this stuff since their coming from a place of good intention. But as you say and as anyone can plainly see the whole notion is ludicrous because if you wanted to be "bad" you could just arrange to get together or jump in the front see just as soon as you get around the corner.

This type of nonsense is just typical stuff that stems from the basic mistrust and lack of faith in the friends' that is rampant among Jehovah's Witnesses. There is always the presumption that tempting circumstances will lead to misconduct or sin because to say: "we understand you two have 'bible trained consciences and we trust you to use them in this situation" opens the door to "self-governance" and the Organization is about maintaining the "Theocracy."

I absolutely hated this rule. I used to get crap about it all the time. I guess going to the meeting isn't importamt if the only ride you can find is offered by a man. they'd rather you didn't go.

I'm amazed they let you even sit in the back ES..

I remember when my ex was building an apartment on a KH for a pioneer couple. Now this was all free labor and he was very skilled.. but I had three little ones at home so I couldn't be there to help him.. so once in a while he'd go out to the camper this couple was living in, knock on the door and ask for a hand, say holding a big piece of sheetrock in place or something.. most of the time the couple were both there if not in service, but once in a while only she was there. He was really reprimanded for asking her to 'help' him because they were alone..

sheesh.. he was working... and for them free!

Well, you know how them sisters are! One minute they're sitting next to you in the car and the next they have over powered the man and started giving him a blow job while he's driving.

I don't think that the WTS sees it possible that a man and a woman can be friends without having sex. Other then that ... its all about image.

Everyone knows that the meetings make you horny. After you've sat through one of those babys the first thing you want to do is hump like rabbits! ...and let's face it, a car is only a rolling whore house. I'm sure that sex is the only thing the brothers can think of when they are in the Lord's work out in thier cars. Can you feel the love?

    Right? Of course right.

I remember them not allowing my mother and I to ride alone in a car with a man who was old enough to be her grandfather. He was a friend of the family, yet would couldn't ride with him unless another adult was present.

    WTF?
