    then he created woman.....

So maybe I'm a little late on this topic but..... After looking into Sooooooooo many different religions, it Finally occurred to me that.......

Why would god create 2 of each kind to procreate, then create man by himself and then as afterthought, woman? Hm.

1 man - 1 woman = no life on earth.

Question, how is this explained by Any christian religion? If god is perfect and makes no mistakes, why did women come into existance after man? If god could see that it took 1 male animal + 1 female animal to create life, why would he create a female human After the fact? Past humans, we have male/female vegitation!!

So, is god imperfect after all, or is this just another reason for me to conclude that the bible is nice story and nothing more?

    peace

I think they say that in the original Genesis story, the man and woman wre created at the same time "male and female he created them"... (Gen 1:27)

In the second Genesis story, that was added on after the Jewish exile, the need in their theology for woman to be inferior to men, led them to add the story where Eve was taken from Adam's rib... Eve then became an afterthought... To be honest im not sure which way around it goes, not sure which story was written first, but they show a clear difference in ideals between the two stories.

Yeah there was a jewish effort to explain that just as doryakii said. They used the two creation stories (chapt 1 P chpt 2 J) and say Adam's first wife Lillith, who was made form the same dust as Adam (the language suggests that like other creation stories the two were joined perhaps back to back at creation) , became bold and self willed so yahweh made the second one from his side to not repeat the mistake. The colorful Lillith legend (she has supernatural powers and eats babies) is a perfect example of goddess worship recaste as evil demonism.

i am of the camp that believes people are dumb with potential, but that religion and dumb old stories make them dumb without potential.

So, is god imperfect after all, or is this just another reason for me to conclude that the bible is nice story and nothing more?

both. we created god, and so he is dumb and violent.

one of the funniest apologies that i have ever heard, was that god perhaps made adam asexual, but realized that adam would be lonely. so took a mere rib and made eve. this makes sense, considering that adam would have been witness to a lot of chimpanzee sex, and would have wondered what was up. he he.

and so god created eve, who was special because unlike the chimpanzees who share only a mere 99% of our genome, she had a full blown 100% HUMAN GENOME. SPECIAL CREATION! whoopie! chimps have 24 chromosomes, humans have 23. brilliant jehovah. lazy, but brilliant.

And God said, "Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds....."

People were there as the earth brought forth various life.

Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness...."

Let's make these people (brought forth by the earth) more like us

So God created man in his own image......male and female he created them.

    ie. with spirit and soul

and man became a living being --- He is not God of the dead, but of the living
