I filed away the letter that I received from an elder when my mom was disfellowshipped years ago. It turned up the other day, reminding me again of the high control, fear based beliefs the dubs have. I resisted shunning my mom -- and sadly this letter is the reason I finally began shunning her.

Happily, this letter holds no power over me today. A big change from those years ago when I lived in terror of this so-called "loving" elder.

I am now happily disfelowshipped.

I see the letter, but it is mostly illegible and blurry. But I could read "In Christian Love"

My favorite line is " if they show proof of sincere repentance " how does one prove this? If god knows our hearts then we have nothing to prove to anyone.

Whats funny is that I disassociated myself about that time. Never went back.

Years later my JW MIL asked if it was ok to associate with me (At her hall) they said sure..even eating together with her and other JW's that stopped by her house when we were doing chores for her.

Isn't being disassociated as bad as disfellowshipped? I think it is even worse..you publically say..I do not want to be known as a JW...

What a bunch of hypocrites.
