Smuckers LOL, fresh starts are nice.

However, Do you often find yourself back at "Square one" in life?

That's how I feel. I retired from the state of Washington at age 50. I was making $59,000 a years. My retirement is only $22,000 a year, becasue my ex-wife gets a third. I immediately started college at age 50 and if they ever approve my thesis I'll have a master's degree in applied linguistics. I'm finding that teaching jobs don't pay much and what else could I do with a master's in applied linguistics. I didn't go to college to get rich. I went because I had always been angry that I hadn't gone to college right after high school and because I wanted a changed of career. However, I'm feeling a bit frustrated.

There is nothing wrong with square one.

Some people seem to advance in life and gain more and more as time advances, whether it's money, love or anything, while others, maybe like me, always come back to square one, and everything is to be started all over from scratch once again.

Are you talking about me again?

Sometimes it feels like square one but I know I have come a long long way from where I started. I just didn't quite expect this result

Many roses have to be pruned in order to produce the most lovely one. Sometimes we mistake which roses we need to prune and or become attached to the wrong ones, but the best one always survives--keep our roots strong and it will blossom. Sometimes we have to work a little harder and feel some setbacks in order to discover where our lone survivor is. Or, something like that. :-)

Don't think I've ever made my way OUT of Square One...I'm still here, JH...with hugs and cookies for everyone who keeps finding themselves back here at one point or another, hoping they'll regale me with tales of their adventures in those mysterious Other Squares...
