My Dr. had prescribed Advair for my asthma. For a 90 day supply it will cost me $75. That's not too bad being that it will be $25 per month for me. What I was shocked about was the cost for the insurance company: $1,258.00.

    Holly Freak'in BaJebus!!!!

That is just insane! No wonder the cost of insurance has gone through the roof! The drug companies are price gouging. The total weight of the 90 day supply literally weighs a few grams.

And the poor and elderly on fixed income many times stop their meds because they just can't afford it. It is sick and yes even middle class families have to struggle to make ends meet just to pay for their meds. Someone is getting very rich.

I just looked at a Canadia Pharmacy website and the same prescription costs $307.90

Why the hell do drugs cost so much in the US?

Else, you should see what the drug reps spend wooing the docs to prescribe their wares. I have seen some unreal stuff, five star dinners, trips to the Carrib, you name it. The drug pimps, er I mean drug reps spend a fortune pushing their wares, the money involved in the whole thing is just insane.

Yea...when I was suffering with acid reflux a few years ago, I had to pop one pill a day for a month and each of those pills costed about 3 dollars US.

I have this chronic stomach condition which requires me to take meds. Well, I had been taking the caplets for years. We changed insurance companies and one day my pharmacist says that the insurance will not cover the pills anymore. I called the insurance...they said that they would only cover the capsules and not the caplets.....

The caplets and capsules contain the same amount of medication....and according to the pharmacist are roughly the same price...

In any case, the whole system is screwed up...but I am not sure how it can be fixed.

It may have something to do with Canadas health care coverage but i guess we will see if someone from Canada knows.

that is one advantage working in healthcare; where I work I get fed by the drug reps and if I ever need anything I just get samples where I work or if I ever need a prescription filled I use the employee pharmacy at the hospital and I even get it cheaper than I would regularly get it with my insurance copay

That's why I always get the generic brands.

It's the same exact thing for a fraction of the price.

Good God Almighty, Elsewhere! I had no idea! Jackson uses Advair and Singulair as his asthma maintenance medicines. Hmmm, maybe I should try to sell the Advair on the black market for next month's mortgage payment.

Don't know if this site will help, Else, but I've ordered from them before and they're on the up-and-up (have very good rep). Meds from them are sometimes less than half U.S. prices.
