The Watchtower's latest book, "What Does The Bible Really Teach?" is a fraud, a dishonest
work written by increasingly dishonest men. How so? Consider:
1. Where's the footnotes and references, Writing Staff? Why are they missing?
The book avoids making any specific references to secular sources that are quoted.
There are no dates, page numbers or other ways to encumber the Society from taking
quotes out of context, except when a Watchtower publication is cited! Suddenly,
when one of their books or brochures is referred to , they manage to print
a specific footnote for it! Isn't it obvious that they don't want anyone doing
real research? that they want Witnesses to live in a narrow self referenced
world?
2 Where's any warning about disfellowshipping? The book urges its readers to
ask the local presiding overseer to be baptized (pg 182) but fails to explain the burden
of being judged and potentially shunned according to the whims of local elders.
If this was how a credit card company behaved, would they rightly be accused
of fraud? Is this yet another example of how the Watchtower escapes from
ethical corporate standards by hiding behind the First Amendment?
3 And finally, where's your REAL defense of any of your doctrines, Brothers?
For many years now, on the internet in particular, Watchtower teachings have been
cut to pieces. Jesus, Paul and John avoided using the name "Jehovah". The early
disciples believed in ghosts (Mt 14:26, Mr. 6:49) and milk contains blood cells.
What do you say in defense, Watchtower? If you re-emphasize your worn-out
doctrines in this book ( with appendicies in particular), then you MUST know
that they are under attack - but cannot defend them further! The same tired
arguments are trotted out for blood, their imaginary chronology, the cross, you name it.
There's an argument from silence here - and it's screaming "Bogus"!
Nor are these all unimportant points, since they choose to now re-emphasize the blood
issue after soft-pedaling it in the "Knowledge" book and the "Worship the Only
True God" book ( which skipped it entirely).
They repeat the lie that "The Only Proper Use of Blood" is for sacrifices!
( pg 131) Are they really so stupid as to miss the point that we have blood
to keep us alive, our cells oxygenated and fed? that God didn't create
this fluid simply for use in a ritual?
Should we expect deeper stupidity from them - like maybe "your nose only
exists to hold up your spectacles?" or perhaps "you have hips so that your pants
won't fall down?"
The assertion that the old men who run the Watchtower are sincere but deceived is
wearing thin. With every passing year, it becomes more and more apparent
that they are conscious and deliberate in deception. If it were otherwise, they
would feel regret, or a need to apologize or change - or defend themselves
apart from mindless reptition of points already answered - and none of that is
happening.
