Hi Kent,
Thanks for the article!
Oooooooo this issue gets my blood a boilin'.
'waiting' you're spot on. The unethical behavior of Keener(hope I remember the names right here) caused so much un necessary grief.
I've worked in the med field. And I remember that horrible WT article when it came out(thanks steph).
I worked with medical records. I always understood(despite that terrible Wt article) that the treatment and care of the pt was between them and the physician. I dont know what capacity K worked in,but in mine(clinical) I had to take an oath upon graduation. And it included upholding medical ethics and doing no harm to a patient.
It disgusts me!!! And my heart goes out to Hope and family. That someone could so terribly violate their privacy like that. It can also really screw up the Doc's practice. There's a law res ipsa superior? respondant? something like that where the physician is liable for personnel,as they are working under his aegis.(I gotta go dig up my med law book)
I've personally heard of only one other case like this. And a note to you JW's who work in a clinical capacity with access to records/charts. The medical community is very cohesive, very political. Violating confidentiality is taken very very seriously. If you show yourself to be that seriously unethical.Word will get out.And you may be very quietly blackballed. Just a 'word' if you value your career.
Again,Im so very sorry Hope. hugs,Tina
