Sadly, I agree with Metatron on this one. I hope we're wrong. It's quite possible that, thanks to the burgeoning expansion of the Internet, any continued hardening that leads to further abuses of the flock will begin to attract the attention of the mass media in greater measure.

Don't be sad, Roomie! Yeah, I agree with the thrust of metatron's post but really, is the Borg to be "saved"? I don't think so! It's an evil empire.
We should be looking for the R&F to walk away to freedom!
How sad that you and I have family still held captive, eh?
Cheers, ozzie

"How is that becoming hardline if they drop it from an important teaching book like that?"
This is exactly what I didn't understand in Metraton's post.
What I see in the Org is a softening in some areas and a hard grip in other.
Metra is too certain about the future of an uncertain, lost and unpredictable organization.

jwfacts,
You got to be dreaming! The JW's won't change!
Raymond Franz use to be on the GB and he knew all about it!
20 years is such a long time for it to change. I'll be middle aged by that time! :( WAY TOO LATE BY THEN! -

Gordy --
Also having recently had a chat with a JW Elder about the cross/stake issue. He said that they are not really bothered if it was a stake or cross. On what Jesus died was not important, but that he did die.

REally!? this sounds like apostasy to me! LOOK OUT APOSTATES! Here's an ex-JW calling THEM apostates!
Well, I guess it's back to the cross & crown like with the Charles Taze Russell days! lol Just halarious!
Next they'll be saying that the Bible is not inspired by God, but you still must do as Jehovah says! :D lol -

Well, I may be wrong, but I think that metatron's mention of the blood doctrine being dropped from the new "Worship" may have had this as its point:
Isn't it necessary for new converts to study both the "Knowledge" book and the "Worship" book in preparation for baptism? Therefore, dropping the chapter on the blood doctrine is one more way that the Society is deceitful to newcomers, who will be able to say to objecting/opposed worldly family members that blood is NOT an "issue" (since it hasn't even come up in their studies?) when, in fact,
a/ the entire blood doctrine and the information in Advance Medical Directives on newly-allowed diverse components and treatments is VERY confusing to most Witnesses?
b/ The majority of Witnesses will still tell you that they do NOT accept blood as it is against Bible teachings? And Hospital Liaison Committee members are still going around telling hospital personnel on hospitalized Witnesses' behalf that no blood should be administered?
c/ The Society has been prosecuted as a cult in several countries because of the stance on blood and the resulting deaths (usually of children). Thus, they have been forced to soften said stance in court testimony and, perhaps, deemed it prudent to leave the doctrine out of recent publications in order to be able to continue as a tax-exempt religion in some of those places?
My viewpoint is that the Society does NOTHING by chance. It purposefully makes changes to reflect its best interest -- and that is NOT often in the best interest of its adherents.

Exactly, the blood issue not being mentioned in something like the Worship book is deceitful. As I recall it isn't mentioned very much in the Knowledge book either. But then most of the doctrines now are barely talked about ahead of time. I wonder about the new OM book?

Remember too that the personal, private musings of individual elders do not represent or shape the WTS international doctrine or policy. It is just their way of dealing with their own doubts.
If it ain't in writing, it ain' from the WTS and they will disavow it on that basis.

Maybe he'll change it. He'll add a bit of Australiana to the the mostly US GB...
He'll go "she'll be right mate. Let me handle the R & F from now on." :)
I'll bet the Americans will ask him "Are there eny Kengarus thaeir?"
Aussie GB: "Yeah there's millions of them mate! We see them all the time in Hobart!"
