Mec', you have hit on some good points. At the same time boys are encouraged to achieve (puberty), girls are encouraged to turn to worrying about their appearance and competing with each other for boys' attention, and their academic careers often go into the toilet in high school. Good points about the early nurturing, I think that is SOOO true!

This is part of the feminist theory ,,, in our ignorance, we often hear that feminists bash men .. NOT SO, only some fringe elements are into that. It is more about looking at how we can change inequities between the sexes.
For instance, the socialization of teens and children. Our boys need more nurturing. They need to be taught that it's okay to feel, to be introspective. Gurls need to learn that they can be adventurous, that they do not have to look to boys to lead. As young teens (13, 14, 15) we need to teach them that they are equals,,, that the girls need not be coquettes, and the boys need not be commercials for testosterone. Let's not stifle them with stereotypes. The oversexualization of the young female in our society is a crime! Gurls should learn to value their brains as much as their looks! And boys need to be valued for their feelings as well as their accomplishments on the football field.
True nurturing of the human spirit, regardless of gender, breeds more intelligent, productive adults.
