There are so many unwritten laws, but most witnesses know when it's wrong to sit next to someone.
Name a few cases, when it's ok to sit next to someone, and when it's not ok?

I never ran into this before - did it happen to you?
Well, a single brother shouldn't sit next to a single sister, unless they are dating.
Unless there isn't any place left at the hall... That was the mentality in my congregation.
If a married couple is sitting there one next to each other, and there is one place free next to the husband and one place free next to the wife, the single brother will have to sit next to the man.

Actually unless they are engaged. If they sit next to each other and are just dating and then something happens that ends the relationship then the gossip really flies as to what happened that they broke up.
My brother and I used to get in trouble if we sat in the back row of the Hall, but no one ever explained why.
What's the deal with the back row? It seemed to be the more rowdy bunch and all the females had infants.

Hell, the gossip always flies around. JWs live for gossip. All you have to do is have a single sister™ in your car group™ and the slander begins.
Don't know anymore, but a couple of years ago when I went to visit caty in PA and her JW mom expected us to go to the KH, I sat next to her near the rear and groped her the whole time. Once we sat in the library with an elder also in there and I spent the time reading the Studies in the Scriptures, Enemies, and the 1975 Yearbok. Made sure the elder saw what I was reading too. Nobody there knew I was DF'd and just about everyone who came up to lovebomb me, or just genuinely be nice, thought I was great. If they only knew............ hhehehehe Edited to add: there also always seemed to be an understanding that the husband sit in the seat closest to the aisle. Never did understand that one.
Protect her from the chamberpots being emptied from the platform?

That's so he can better protect his wife in case armed terrorists storm the hall. Either that or he might be impressed into microphone service at a moments notice.
I'm not sure which one's worse.
