It has been widely reported that local aboriginal people ignored the ships of the first explorers of the east coast of Australia.
One theory is that it was too much for them to comprehend but a more recent theory is that they had been seeing ships for centuries rarely ever stopped (e.g. Spanish galleons returning from Sth America getting blown by adverse winds ito Australian waters. Also, Dutch spice traders and even a theory about the Romans and Egyptians and of course Chinese traders) so they were just not interested.....
