Tuesday morning before all the news out of New Orleans came it was 2.49 when I took my daughter to school. Later in the day it went to 2.69 about mid morning, when I picked her up from school it was 2.79. This morning it was still 2.79 but by noon was 2.99 and help at the station said it would be 3.25 by tomorrow. .50 in 36 hours, what gives???

These gas prices will affect people more than we think. It will touch many different industries negatively.

I didn't know the President finally spoke to the nation tonite, that makes sense now. I am trying to see if I can find his speech on CNN.

This gas price is going to affect everything. Who is going to get in the car to get some .99cent cheeseburgers when it cost $5 to get there?

I will be only going up the road for necessary things that is for sure.

Well...I got about $20 of gas this afternoon at 2.71 at Sam's club...but then, my husband came home later and asked me to fill up the van and the car because it is just going to get so out of hand...so I go back out again...thank goodness it had only gone up 1 cent since the afternoon.

All in all, I spent a total 106 on gas between both vehicles today. But we both expect gas to get up to $3 in the near future, so we had to get it cheap while we could. There were fairly long lines when I went, but it wasn't too crazy.

What WAS crazy though is the difference in price at different stations. 2.71 was the lowest I saw in Plano, but I drove by others at $2.90...and at one intersection, there was one station that had gas for 2.71 and diesel for 2.69, but across the street the gas was 2.89 and the diesel 2.49...go figure.

Way up here in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, there were insane lineups for gas. I haven't seen lines like that since the oil crisis in '73 thirty years ago. People are irritable and impatient, too.

It is infecting me, which is very rare. I found myself snapping at people in the store and walking away from other lineups. The fruit and vegetable aisles were bare (likely from monthly cheque shopping frenzy), but all of a sudden I wondered if I were living in the Soviet Union or something.

I was ashamed and angry at my fellow Canadians. The southern states have lost so much, those poor people in the stadium, they are ALLOWED to lose their cool. We should display more grace.

This whole thing is affecting me much more that I ever expected. My prayers for New Orleans, Biloxi, et al tonight.

Here in "poe-dunk" Lawton, OK it's 2.99-3.16 on one side of town. On the side farthest from the highway it starts at 2.79. Ain't this gonna be fun??!!

Anyone up for a roadtrip??? (just kidding)

I saw a news item on Yahoo that said that 20 (out of about 550) of the oil drilling platforms in the Gulf are missing...status unknown. Its kinda like the stock market for one thing, just the bad news of what is happening in the Gulf-bordering states is affecting prices. Then there's the reality of lowered supply, due to the disruption of delivery, and the increased demand, due to people driving away from that area.

I dunno. I havent been out in 2 days. Last time I saw it was $2.69 for regular at station that is normally higher by 10cents.

I clearly remember being in LA in '79, and having to line up at 4 o'clock in the morning for gas.

There was no shortage then, and there is none now. It's all a scam to drive up the prices.
