I can't believe it. The congregations in the city are organizing a relief effort. They're asking for toiletries, non-perishable food items, and bottled water. Supplies are being collected at one of the KHs in the city. The city overseer is organizing this along with other elders in the city.

I wonder if WTS is aware/supporting this effort?

Whatever the case it is good they recognize the need to do something in a practical way.

This kind of independent thinking will be dealt with by "mother".

Quickly, harshly and with no quarter offered.

God help all of 'em if they use a Kingdom Hall for staging.

If the City Overseer is doing this--- it's because New York says so.

Are you sure? Maybe the City Overseer is a secret opposer until now like some of the ex-DO's and Co's who left in the past. Could be he's human after all.

Obviously, I don't know the guy but CO's do whatever ny tells them. They are the contact of the Service Dept.and will do whatever they are instructed to do.

However, is this a call for help for only witnesses? I would be shocked if it were designed specifically for "worldy" people.

I agree, and applaud anyone who helps. But the facts speak for themselves, usually such aid is aimed only at other JWs. I hope I am proved wrong.

If aid is conditional on people believing as they do, and for those belonging to the same organisation, then that help is almost worse than doing nothing.

I will however give the benefit of doubt.

The JWs do a marvelous job at helping out... but only their own.

It's their modus operandi, and it's not going to change anytime soon. Their way of rescuing their own is absolutely superb! Even more so if the person happens to be very active and considered a 'pillar' in the congregation or if you're 'well connected' with the heavy ones.

Well, looking at it positively, at least they offer some sort of help if only to a chosen few. If every group or religious organization would offer the same sort of help, the problem wouldn't be as much for the government.
