Whats happens to all the $$$$ when the WTS closes down

I used to think that if the end didnt come within the generation that the WTS would have to shut down. As it is a multibillion dollar non profit organisation I imagined that the publishers would then each get an equal distribution of the wealth, a great incentive to stay. But then the definition of a generation changed and makes the WTS viable for a bit longer than I cared to hang around for.

How long do you think the WTS can continue before people en masse realise it is a pointless cult and it drifts into oblivion. And when it does, who gets the money?

All the apostates go in with ouija boards and loot the place.

We need to get organised with a looting committee now.

That's the problem. Multi-billion cash-cow corporations rarely vanish just like that. There is always a bunch of cynical ba*rds ready to get hold the assets regardless of what it takes.

As much as I wish this would happen in our life-time, I think there is very little hope it will ever happen. They are too good at making bullshit up. There will always be people to beleive it all.

But one thing is for sure, if they did close down, I would never see the $$$ go to the poor people of the world or the average Mr. Joe Witness.

No, they won`t be closing down. But they`ll change. I think most people will agree that people generally are more educated today, than they were 50, even 20 years ago. I mean both educated in general, and educated concerning religious things. All the information about cults like the JWs, is out there, on the internet. I imagine that when JWs knock on doors now, in Europe or in the USA, people might go on the internet, search on "Jehovahs Witnesses", and stumble onto websites like this. I bet there are a hundred times as many "apostat websites", as there are JW-sites. I think the amount of members is going to decline in the western world, and increase in third-world countries. That is, until the mad dictators in these countries gets sick of them, and outlaw them. And that`s ok by me.

Has anyone ever read the laws governing non-profit organizations. The corporation officers own nothing; assets would not go to them if the WTS every closed down.

The only way I ever see the WTS closing down is if the federal government stepped in and closed it down and distributed the funds as they see fit under the law.

Blondie I am always impressed with how much you know on so many topics. Where did all the knowledge originate from?

No matter how much we might want that to happen, it won't. There are countless cults that just keep going on and on. JW's are not dangerous................even though there have been many incidents with members that could be construed as dangerous, they are basically harmless.

Don't go jumping on me for that. You all know what I mean.

The org. has reached the point where its first, perhaps its only, priority is self-perpetuation. Keep the org. going, no matter what effect it has on individuals.

That being said, assuming it did "close down", where would the money go?

Where does the money always go? To the lawyers!
