And no mere warning, either. In order to survive this coming event, you are supposed to obey the whole body of this rubbish. This includes all the particulars, such as not having too colorful socks (or will umbrellas be next?), too tight pants (or will too small a field circus bag be next?), and not dating a "brother" that hasn't continuously been at least an assistant hounder since turning 23. You put your career on hold. You waste time and money going door to door, or pushing those stupid carts around, or both. You donate all your wealth to the Worldwide Damnation Fund, depriving you of the chance to either invest it or enjoy it now. People waste their whole lives on this rubbish, and get nothing to show for it.
At least when I make predictions, you have the choice. Either spend the money and enjoy it while it still has value, or put it into a form that will hold its value. So no hyperinflation comes? You still have the assets as a form of savings. If you spend it all now, you at least have the fun. With the washtowel, you have neither.

You'll recall in that incisively perceptive song (written when Lennon and McCartney were themselves very young men), the parents self-absorbed first response was, "How can she treat us this way after all we've done?" The mix of shock, outrage and impotent grief is unmistakable - and interestingly, blocks the parents from taking a more compassionate view of what their child could be going through. How did it get to this state where the child feels compelled or forced to leave home?
The emotional blackmail conveyed in that photo accurately conveys one of the most manipulative strategies in the JW parents' theocratic arsenal.

Sometimes I get too caught up in the subtle manipulation messages in the pictures. In the one directly above (parents crying on the staircase) for instance, my eyes go to the guitar case by the door on the right. Was it put in to add a subtle statement?

As for the picture of the lion looking in the window...why is the young woman eating apple pie while the others have coffee cake? Why is the older man serving and the younger man doing child care? An attempt to ease the patriarchal "women are second rate" message they have always sent out previously?
I am staying clear of the obvious - who puts a lion outside the window on a nice sunny day?
