In Norway, the price for one litre is currently, 2 dollars (or some 8 dollars a gallon).

Yes I agree with some posts, you Americans and Canadian need to stop winging about the price of Gas. It is dirt cheap in your countries.

It's true, you can see from the number of "gas" price related posts that some parts of the world are being hurt by the oil price while people here have been living with it for years.
However, the scripture is interesting. When oil runs dry, the cost of food and wine will sky rocket as it directly competes with oil for growing space. This isn't now, it's going to occur slowly over the next 50 years. The rich will buy their oil and the poor will struggle to buy their food while the farmers will grow whatever brings the higher profit margin.

Oh brother....typical JW blabber, with made up words and everything. LOL
I try hard not to complain about gas prices, really. I knew the English and Europeans paid more, but I had no idea how much more until coming to this board.
I have English friends that try to vacation in the States every year and I was suprised last year when they rented an SUV and took quite a road trip through Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee. I thought renting such a vehicle and doing all of that driving was quite an expensive vacation, but, to them, it wasn't bad at all (and certainly less costly than that trip would be this year). Its all a matter of perspective.

The rest of the world has been paying double what we pay now for years...
Yes, but see, this woman has never BEEN to Europe... or anywhere else, for that matter. Like most dubs, she has tunnel vision and sees just what's in front of her -- after it passes thru the WT-approved filer, of course. Katrina, high gas prices, Iraq: it's a dub paradise out there right now. The WTS must be so relieved at every piece of bad news that comes down the television turnpike. They want so desperately to be right about something for a change.

It makes me laugh the way you Americans moan about what you pay for petrol (gas). We here in Britain would LOVE to be able to pay $3 a gallon. At the moment an average gallon here is costing between $7 - $9 a gallon.
Ah yes...you'd LOVE to be able to pay $3 a gallon....but alas...someone has to pay for socialism.
I wouldn't mind paying $7 a gallon...and abolishing the income tax. Or even getting free health care...it all comes out in the wash anyway.

Well when we get "socialism" in Britain will you please let us know. Because we been waiting for it since 1997.

Wait...I'm confused...I thought cries of peace and security were what we were supposed to watch out for. No wonder I was such a crappy JW.

The WT recently ordered several presses worth 30-50 Milion Euros. Unless their "direct channel of communication with God" is cut, the GB got to postpone the big A for a couple more generations:

Luke 21:8
When Christ foretold the coming of false Messiahs, he spoke also of men who would come saying:
“the time is very near now”, and he counselled “never follow men like that”.
Matthew 24:11 & 23
“and many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.”
(Ecclesiastes 7:10) 10 Do not say: “Why has it happened that the former days proved to be better than these?” for it is not due to wisdom that you have asked about this.
(Ecclesiastes 1:9-11) 9 That which has come to be, that is what will come to be; and that which has been done, that is what will be done; and so there is nothing new under the sun. 10 Does anything exist of which one may say: “See this; it is new”? It has already had existence for time indefinite; what has come into existence is from time prior to us. 11 There is no remembrance of people of former times, nor will there be of those also who will come to be later. There will prove to be no remembrance even of them among those who will come to be still later on.
(2 Thessalonians 2:1-2) 2 However, brothers, respecting the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we request of YOU 2 not to be quickly shaken from YOUR reason nor to be excited either through an inspired expression or through a verbal message or through a letter as though from us, to the effect that the day of Jehovah is here.
