I don't know if this has been posted yet or not, but I just saw an item indicating that Silent Lambs has joined the hurricane relief effort. But I noticed it was headlined "Silent Lambs Jehovah's Witnesses Hurricane Relief Effort." No doubt this is why the Orlando based Jehovah's Witnesses have issued a Scam Alert at http://www.jw-aid.com Of course, they don't think it a scam to ask for donations earmarked for their worldwide work that will benefit first and foremost Jehovah's Witnesses and precious few others. And, it is they, on their own who are collecting supplies and sending a convoy to the region, admiting they are not official.

That press release did all but blame us. Yes, we are hostile to their work, but I'd like to think no one here would do something like that!

I see they don't mention how much of the contributions will actually go to the relief effort. "Make the checks out to the WBTS", Not to an account specific to the relief effort. Me thinks I smell a skunk!!! And THEY have the nerve to talk about other scams!! That's like the pot calling the kettle black!

When they rebuild the kingdom halls there will more than likely be a new mortage to go with it. Probably tacked on to the unpaid balance. I'm curious, when, and if, they help private(JWs) people rebuild, do they consider it a loan to be paid back??? I just can't see them doing anything unless they profit from it.

Yikes -- I think I would get on the horn and notify them that you are not jehovahs witnesses but in fact protect children from child molesting j-dubbies ......

Send 'em sparkplug's photo's of her (an apostate) helping worldly people. Ask her first of course. Then see if they post them. If they do, let's laugh our asses off.

hmmn, "Half of all donations ..." does sound like a way of getting a cut of money to me with encouragement to "donate to us" (hey, and we get 50%!).

Why not have a collection earmarked for the hurricane or direct people who want to give to that to the people who collect directly for it?

Danny Haszard is the fall guy for the Silent Lambs Jehovah's Witnesses Hurricane Katrina relief press releases.

Bill Bowen did not solicit me to post on the wires i did it on my own seemed like a worthy idea.

Every one of about ten PR pieces point to the www.networkforgood.org as an alternate charity.

I exist for one reason...to expose the Watchtower racket for their evil and give them a run for their money.

I make a very good fall guy for our crusade because i have nothing to lose!

    Cash donations

Many congregations, especially those near the affected area, will receive instructions from the relief committee to setup local donation arrangements. There may be a contribution box at your local Kingdom Hall set aside for this purpose. If you are outside the United States, please follow the directions from your local branch.

Otherwise, send cash donations to the branch office, where a relief fund is set aside for this purpose. The address is Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, c/o Office of the Secretary and Treasurer, 25 Columbia Heights, Brooklyn, NY 11201-2483. Make checks payable to "Watch Tower ." (See km 7/00 p. 3 and km 11/04 p. 3)

Beware of fraudulent schemes to solicit money for our brothers under the guise of assisting victims of disasters. We will be glad to post scam warnings on the website. (See km 2/02 p. 7)

Scam Alert: There are already blogs and "news releases" directing people to donate at websites supposedly managed by Jehovah's Witnesses. Most of them are hostile to our cause and/or simply channel the money to other relief organizations. To contribute to the relief effort spearheaded by Jehovah's Witnesses, please follow the instructions shown above, which are based on official directions from the United States branch office of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society, a legal organization in use by Jehovah's Witnesses.

Note too they say on the aid site not to send food or clothes to them, just cash!! They say the items can only be donated at the local level if directed so. Silent lambs is against the policies/practices of the WTS that lead it to enable and cover up abuse. AFAIK SLs do not take a position against JWs on any other issue. Furthermore, there is no way in hell SLs are hostile to the jw-aid.com group's relief efforts! That has nothing to do with the abuse issue. It is really pathetic of them to claim "those groups are hostile to our work". Paranoia complex!

lol... I see this as a GREAT opportunity to get JWs to go take a peek at the SilentLambs website. JWs can't resist reading news articles that speak favorably of them, only this article provides a positive and upbeat message that is attached to a message about how the WTS protects pedophiles.

I think publishing that article was an excellent idea

    HELP-Jehovah's Witnesses Hurricane Katrina Relief

    Added: (Sun Sep 04 2005)

Silent Lambs for the Children is in motion to provide assistance.

    What you can do now.

Jehovah’s Witnesses at silentlambs.org wish to help in this regard, for the month of September half of all donations sent to silentlambs will be forwarded to the American Red Cross for relief work in the disaster stricken area.

The recent hurricane in the Gulf coast area has been a story that seems unbelievably devastating in its proportions.

Hundreds of thousands of people are affected and going through untold suffering. News reports have asked that individuals stay away from the area at present to prevent further chaos.

As individuals there is something we can do and that is, send money to directly benefit those that are assisting people in need.

Silentlambs is a 501-C3 non-profit organization all your donations are tax deductible.

Each Monday we will publish on the website the total amount of funds raised and then forward the donation. If you have another specific charity you would like to look for see this link:

    Networkforgood.org http://www.networkforgood.org/

Many children are being affected by this including need for basic food and water. If you are able to do something financially to support this relief effort, even if it is $1, please do what you can to reach out to those that are victims of this disaster.
