Now we know where GW gets his "compassionate conservatism" from:

Yeah, I heard that on the news. Pretty sad.

Nice. Thought she was smarter than that. While a good number of the evacuees might be underpriviledged and might have some opportunities come their way via federal and state programs due to Katrina, saying that they are better off after losing their homes and some, their family members, is grossly insensitive.

"What I'm hearing, which is sort of scary, is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality," she said.
Yes, all those POOR people invading the Lone Star State, how scary. Gawd, the Texans must be embarrassed by her.

"Almost everyone I've talked to says 'we're going to move to Houston,'"
LOL! That's where her and GHWB live. I'll bet she's scared!

I've noticed that her son, GW is quite clueless when it comes to how real people live. I guess he came by it honestly. Then again, the woman is older than dirt.

C'mon guys...
She's old.
Are the comments of each of us squeaky clean and politically correct; 24/7?
I doubt it.
I've met the lady, several times. She's about as proactive as any I've met in her generation, concerning poverty and racial issues.
