well, people speak in their private brains all the time without saying anything outloud because they do not want to offend or make waves.
it's the theft of critical thinking ability due to fear, that stops people in the WTS from speaking their independent views. after a while, the desire to speak just slips into thin air.

Unbelievably excessive repetition! It builds the cult mindset into one's personality, and makes one little more than an automaton.
examples? Try and not finish the following phrases in witness terms;
Babylon the Great....the __________ ____________ ___ __________ ___________!
Our spirtual ____________________!
No part of the _______________!
We don't associate with ____________ people!
______________ our Father in heaven.
Group-think. That is the best way to dumb down anyone. They have it down pat.

Things that have changed for the dumber in Dubdumb over the years:
1. The "Reading Assignment"
2. Reading the paragraph BEFORE the questions are asked
3. Grading your own Written Review
4. Forbidding outside information in assignments and comments
5. Progressively more pictures & less text with each passing year
6. Progressive vocabulary reduction year after year (Ostensibly for "ease" of translation.)
7. Less and less adaptation in doctrine. Constant regurgitation of old material

I think they also dumb you down with those stupid Kingdom Ministry lists of dos and don'ts for the summer conventions.

The assignments for reading in the MSchool no longer require any comment because in future times those presenting talks in DC, CA and Kingdumb Hells will have to deliver word for word what is printed in front of them as if they are saying it ad hoc from the depths of their hearts. Years ago when assigned a public talk at the HELL, and elder would have to do all his own reasearch and structure his own talk. Then they got an 'outline' - these becacame more and more prescriptive. From "find examples of ( to prove a point)" to "find examples from WT literature" to select from the following examples. The Churches, of course, are condemned by WTS for having books and schedules which prescribe what is to be said and sung in any week of the church year.
JWS will be the same in another 10 to 20 years. They are at the stage of 2nd Cent. christianity wondering 'why are we still waiting.' In another 90 years they will be scrutinizing old WT mags and books,, deciding which bits are to be promulgated as inspired UNTO the FDS and which others to be hid from the Faithful. They already quote WT as proof of a point without reference to the bible. They will create their own canon of extra-holy scriptures.

The Witnesses of today are NOTHING like JWs of yesteryear. No baptized JW could ever explain 607--1914, 2520 days/years.....unless they got a book and read directly from it (like the Reasoning book).

One of the things that bothers me most is that first they over-complicate things (when the gospel message and Jesus' commands are really quite simple) by bringing in lots of old testament laws and prophesies...thus showing how terribly difficult God's message is for us to understand without their help...then they twist what they have made incomprehensible into whatever they want it to mean and, finally over-simplify their interpretations, using repetition for an ongoing dumb and dumber effect to keep everybody in line.
