There may be good folks in the JW, with good motives, but what is the old expression? Oh, yes,

... the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Oppressive systems must be attacked and exposed. The WTBTS is a prime example of a controlling, destructive cult that only cares about the financial bottom line and does not deserve to be commended for anything.

    Down with the Tower!

Good motives? Well, just because one fully believes in what one is saying doesn't make what they are saying The Truth and doesn't give one the right to try to convince others that what they believe is wrong.

Let's just say that they have motives and leave the "Good" part out of it.

Jesus didn't spare the pharisees, did he? Were the pharisees all that bad? I'm sure they weren't. The problem the pharisees had according to Jesus, was that they judged severely and put unnecessary weights on the shoulders of "the common people", weights they didn't want to carry themselves. The good didn't outweigh the bad.

The same applies to the body of elders of the WT. I think Jesus would blast them just as much as he did with the pharisees. It's not the regular joe that is wrong, it's the leaders and their lack of empathy and repentance in regards to their mistakes.

They want to judge me....so I judge them.

I have to say that generally the criticism on this board toward JWs is over the top.

I personally have huge problems with the 'truth' right now in my life but I notice the ones who have literally nothing good to say about anything.

There are a lot of good Witnesses and a lot of good doctrine and a lot of good motives among JWs.

Criticism fine, but Jesus commended when due.

5th, there are valid reasons for criticism on this board being "over the top" in many instances. The people who post such "over the top" (your words) criticisms are the ones in crises with their personal exodus from the WTS. They are in pain and hurting from the terrible injustices they personally have suffered at the hands of WTS representatives.

I see from your statements above that you yourself are having huge personal problems with the "truth" (your words) yet you still think there is good in the WTS doctrines, teachings and motives. Fine for you. But you must appreciate that there are those in the WTS who would take exception to YOUR problems with the WTS and would not allow for it, nor would they accept it from you. It's called being judgMENTAL. The scriptures, which even the WTS professes to support, speak AGAINST being judmental...."Do not be judging one another"

This is a forum that is honest enough to allow for people that are hurting and questioning the WTS doctrines, teachings, policies and practices to vent their spleen without fear of censorship. Here's a thread with info about the issues facing those who contemplate/are leaving or have left the WTS and other restrictive religious groups... http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/16/57203/1.ashx

    Hope this helps.

Be specific or think twice before starting a new topic. At that level of generality you can argue anything you like without being held accountable.

Can you give specific examples, so that we can agree or disagree?

Ha! The sister who studied with me said this in another way when we were discussing good people of other faiths, "Sure they can be sincere, but that doesn't mean they aren't sincerely wrong!" Pot, meet kettle.

As for the witness/WTS bashing, I find it part of the process in tearing down the crooked and convoluted JW walls in my mind. For a long, long time I was convinced to live according to the rigid rules of what I now understand to be a cult. I've lost more than a third of my life...the prime of my life...to a false religion. I'm angry at them and at myself (actually mostly myself because it was my choice), so I may go overboard sometimes.

Over the top of what. Who is setting the goal post height? Not the Watchtower Society. They lost all authority after a hundred years of false prophecies and assertions proved to be utterly false. Their claim to be speaking for God is laughable!

    Quote from WTS CD,

    *** Rbi8 Matthew 23:27-28 ***
27 "Woe to YOU, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because YOU resemble whitewashed graves, which outwardly indeed appear beautiful but inside are full of dead men’s bones and of every sort of uncleanness.
28 In that way YOU also, outwardly indeed, appear righteous to men, but inside YOU are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

Yeah on the outside they may look good, but deep down the're just like Jesus said above.

I never heard the JW's ever commend "Christendom" or whatever they're calling it these days. Those Sunday morning Watchtower studies were filled with the JW's version of their beliefs, taking a scripture and applying it to Christendom and saying JW's were the only ones doing the right thing while every other religion was riding the wild beast...

The JW's have caused tons of pain of people and stand behind their belief that actually they are following God's laws.

If I was supposed to be one of JW's happy people, why did I want to jump off the nearest bridge?

When I knew I had no choice but to DA from the organization for its cult-control tactics, the Elders phoned me (I would not have them in my house) and said I was surely to die without no hope of a resurrection. So, basically, they condemned me to death.

The Nazis condemned people to death, too, on the basis of what some people believed. There are other similarities, too. Would you like me to spell them out for you?

    Grace to you.
