I'm GLAD he kept on knocking!!

This just happened to me about an hour ago:

I've been taking care of a lot of details (you know, emails, reading jwd...) and I was not even showered yet for the day. About 12:25, a knock comes to my front door. I ignored it. The knocker (probably a deliveryman) can assume I'm gone, I reason. A minute later, another knock, and it sounds like a voice, too. Oh great... missionaries! Well, tough luck!!

My dog, meanwhile, is going ballistic barking!

Another knock! What the heck is wrong with this person???!!?? Go AWAY!! I shout inside at him/her.

Two minutes later, another knock! I give up!! I'm ticked!!

So I peer round to see if there's anyone still on my doorstep. There is!! Looks like a kid, perhaps looking for jobs for spare change? Boy, he's persistent. I hate that I'm going to have to tell him off while wearing a bathrobe.

I open the door and say sternly, "Hello?!"

    The young Asian man replies....

"Hi! I'm your new exchange student for the school year!"

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAACK! POOR GUY!

Turns out he's a really great kid. He was panicking there, though. Some miscommunication has apparently happened; he left messages about his arrival for me on someone else's phone (wrong number). The school had sent all his info, but to my hotmail account which is set on 'exclusive', and so the email was put into the trashbin automatically...

    Still laughing,

Oh, that is so funny! A tune comes to mind, "Knock, knock, knocking on heaven's door...."

I am reminded of a time I was staying at a youth hostel where I watched a young asian man struggle with his microwaveable breakfast. He failed to lift a corner to vent (only in english and french I guess) and the package ballooned in to this explosive MONSTER. The consternation on the poor young man's face, fork in hand, like, "How am I supposed to EAT this?"

I was no better. I just mildly looked on. I'll blame it on the hour.

Assuming that you're a woman. At least he got to see you in a bathrobe.

That is too funny. He hit the jackpot, getting to stay with your family, dear bebu. Lucky boy!

    LOL@Bebu

I think ignoring any door knocking in the morning is a programmed thing for exJWs. LOL!

Hope your exchange student enjoys his stay with you guys. My MIL had two Japanese boys stay with them when Mozz was about 15 or 16. They left some beautiful Japanese sculptures and artwork as gifts at the end of their stay. My MIL decorates in the 1980's country blue with ducks and seashells and stuff, so the Japanese art didn't make it past the boxes in the attic. Years later, Mozz marries me (half Japanese) and now because of that, I've inherited some beautiful, beautiful pieces of Japanese art.
