There was a brother that i was in bethel with who a few years later ended up in the newspaper with a photo and the caption "Is this Australia's most corrupt person". He left bethel and became a professional con man, ripping people off with bogus schemes. He even ripped of his own brother. I just can't quite remember his name.

Oh, it's all coming back! I'd blocked that guy (if it is him) out of my mind! I had a lot to dowith him in his time before bethel. If he turned out bad, i'm not surprised - you should have met his father! An elder who was called into Bethel Service Department one day and admitted he was lying over a matter which was causing a single mother (divorced) to be accused of things which he knew weren't true yet was happy to allow that sister to suffer. Why? Because yhis wife didn't like her!!! It was a catalyst for me in seeing that the Organisation wasn't Spirit-driven at all but merely the instrument of men who were politically driven.
When we meet up we can vent some more, eh?
For the lurkers reading this, please take note, that these things i.e. elders lying to take judicial action against defenseless sisters was going on, and from what I learned, this was not unusual. There's one branch that even came to the attention of Crooklyn for the same thing. Believe me, serving on the investigating committee of that branch on behalf of the GB was the last straw for me!!
Yep, jwfacts, there's plenty of bastards associated with the very centre of WT affairs downunder.

Honesty:
at the time, he wasn't involved in Service - he was Writing Committee.
How much he knew, i don't know. Why don't you ask him? No, seriously. Just call him on his shortwave radio.
He'd love a call.

05-12 ASIC cracks down on negligent company directors in NSW and Queensland
Thursday 20 January 2005
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has prosecuted 45 company officers in New South Wales and Queensland over the last week as part of an initiative to ensure that directors of failed companies assist external administrators. Fines and costs totalling more than $81,000 were imposed.
The prosecutions followed the failure of these company officers to provide external administrators with key pieces of information relating to the company's finances and history.
One of the officers convicted was Sydney accountant, Mr Sam Peter Cassaniti, of Cassaniti and Associates, who failed to submit a Report as to Affairs (the report) to the liquidator of property development company, Tinain Pty Ltd.
Tinain, of which Mr Cassaniti was a director, was placed into liquidation on 3 November 2003. Since that date the liquidator had endeavoured without success to seek the report from Mr Cassaniti.
'Reports as to Affairs are essential for liquidators to investigate the affairs of a failed company. Members of the accounting profession like Mr Cassaniti are fully aware of this and have a duty to assist', ASIC's Director of Complaints Compliance Actions, Mr Adrian Borchok said.
'ASIC is committed to ensuring that external administrators are given the necessary support, and that the interests of creditors and employees of failed companies are protected', Mr Borchok added.
A charge against Mr Cassaniti of failing to provide books and records to the Liquidator was dismissed.
In 2004 ASIC prosecuted 503 company officers for 956 offences relating to failing to assist, or provide information to, external administrators. Fines and costs in the amount of $822,291.00 were imposed.Date Printed 23 November 2005, © Australian Securities & Investments Commission

blakky
nah, im not italian, if asain origin.
I grew up going to the bonnyrigg KH where there were upto 10 different congs sharing the hall. It was a massive complex though, had 3 large halls within.
Tim Brachmannis is the name you are looking for. He had a business employing 10 or so bro's and sis. Ripped off everyone under the moon. He was in Cabramatta cong, made money then went to the northern beaches. He was D'd in Mona vale cong i think. He was married to an american bird, and took off to america with her once the heat got to him. This was a good 6 to 7 yrs ago.
He was a smart man. Self made millionare, but got greedy. i remember - He ripped off a worldy guy who won the lotto. Got the bloke to invest $700k into business then took off with it. lol
His dad was an elder in my cong. He was a good man, very humble so forth. He and his wife moved up to QLD to escape the heat, and Tims bros went O/S.
Does anyone know any other Australian/Sydney/bethel scandals?

blakky,
You and I must know each other. Did you know that there have been several posting over the years on JWD from that congo?
BTW the father was NOT a humble man for the reasons I posted above. It was a pretense.
Cheers, ozzie
